Last week I heard about the website, Take Them a Meal. I’m sure many if not all of us have either received meals from others or coordinated meals for a family.
TakeThemAMeal.com is a website that allows you to coordinate meal delivery, including what meals are being delivered (no more 3 days in a row of lasagna), and even sets up email reminders so people don’t forget their meal night! There is even a section to include food allergies and preferences so your no dairy family doesn’t end up with cream of such and such soup casseroles every night. The best thing, it is totally free!
I have not used this site personally, but I spent a few minutes looking around and was impressed! When we had our 3rd child we had meals delivered for 5 weeks. It was such a blessing, but we did receive the same chicken dish SIX TIMES! We liked it and were appreciative of the meals, but it would have been nice to have the meals coordinated so the duplicates were limited.
I’m always looking for ways to simplify and streamline my life and Take Them a Meal definitely can help. Have you used their free service? I’d love to hear what you think.

Our church uses this and we LOVE it! It mass emails to all the women who needs meals, when, where, and other details (like menu preferences). Then bam… it fills up within an hour or so! People click the email, pick their date, enter what they are bringing and done! I’ve been on both ends of this (taking a meal and receiving meals). It was also REALLY helpful when receiving meals because I could log on to see who was bringing food, what they were bringing, and get their phone number if I needed to call. All in one place. LOVE IT! Revolutionized our Meals Ministry!

I’ve used take them a meal for a while – and I LOVE it! It is so easy to set up, and it even sends reminders for you!!! I’ve seriously become the go to girl for setting up meals at our church… But if everyone knew how easy it was they’d be doing it too! Have you seen their sister site that helps you set up potlucks?

I have not used that site. I used: http://www.carecalendar.org/ It is so helpful. It allows you to block out days so people can sign up to bring a meal on the days you need it. It also allows you to request other help. I used it for my friend who went through a mastectomy and chemo while her husband was deployed to Afghanistan. It gave us the option to sign up to come vacuum, fold laundry, mow the lawn, even babysit. The CareCalendar offers an open calendar to everyone you evite, but also a section just for special helpers who are given a passcode so they can sign up to help with more private things but still coordinate with each other without disturbing the recipient or calling someone they don’t know—like whose turn it was to sit with her during chemo. That stops the acquaintance who really wishes to help from volunteering for something that makes the recipient uncomfortable. Some people don’t want just everyone folding their unmentionables. 😉

I have also used mealtrain.com. The users do have to sign up but it worked perfectly for my friend after the delivery of her4th baby.

This is so clever. I wish I had known of it a few weeks ago when my friend had her first baby. I can see this coming in handy in so many situations.
Thanks for sharing. I just had to share it too:

I found that site about 3 years ago when I was the meal coordinator for our church. We always had 20-25 women pregnant at any one time. Those meals, plus meals for people who were sick, made this a lifesaver!

Our church uses this, too. One of the younger women told us about it. What a timesaver!!
