Let’s face it, when you have kids you have stained clothes, it might be your clothes or their clothes, but they are going to get stains! Last week we were on vacation and I forgot to pack my trusty stain stick that I usually take on trips. When we returned to my mother-in-law’s house, I had clothes with stains that had been set in for days. We’re talking strawberries, taco sauce, macaroni and cheese, and other UFO’s (unidentifiable filthy objects).
Up until last year I was a Spray nWash Dual Action Power stain remover snob. I LOVED that stuff because it got stains out and worked great. A few months ago I noticed that it wasn’t on the shelves anymore. Then I noticed that Spray n Wash had partnered with Resolve (I think) and had just the basic stain remover. I was a little disappointed, but didn’t want to try all of the stain removers again to find the best one.
When I started the laundry at my mother-in-law’s, I noticed she had the OxiClean stain remover spray. I have to admit I didn’t have much faith in my in-laws choice of stain remover. I mean they are in their sixties, what do they know about stains? They are super neat, never spill food on themselves, or wipe sticky fingers on their pants! I sprayed all the stains, but I was a little sad, thinking that some of our clothes were probably ruined.
To my huge surprise the OxiClean stain remover got out every single stain! I could hardly believe it when I pulled the clothes from the washer. Even clothes that had been sitting for seven days with the stain came out totally clean. I felt like I was in a commercial when I pulled the clothes out of the washer because all the stains were gone!
Disclosure: I am not affiliated with OxiClean in any way. If they would like to hire me to sing their praises, I’m available! 🙂

This is awesome! I have been wanting to get a good stain spray, but I too didn’t want to buy and test all the bottles in the store to test them. Now I know which one I am going to buy. Too bad my store won’t accept printed coupons…
TheHappyHousewife says
That stinks Lisa! Is there another store in your area that does accept printables?

Okay, I have to try this. I HATE stains, they’re so….pesky. Thanks for tip!

Now you KNOW I love this post! 😉
I couldn’t agree more – Oxi Clean spray is the best stain remover on the market. It is the workhouse of stain removers, in my experience!

I actually was at my inlaws and had to try their stain remover… and it worked… better than the Spray n Wash I’d used for years (basic). So when I run out of Shout I will try OxiClean!

Forget paying for the spray version. Costco sells the 15 lbs boxes of the powder and I add it to every load plus soak super soiled clothes in them. I do wash in warm water because that is what makes OxiClean work. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it and will not use anything else.

You know how I love CLEAN!!!

I used OxiClean while I was pregnant all the time ( I guess I wasn’t the neatest pregnant woman). Now that my little one is here…I definitely use it every day. I felt the same way when I opened the dryer and saw all our clothes- stain free! Felt like I could have been on one of their commercials 🙂

We love love Oxyclean in this house! I buy the bulk Versatile at Costco and it lasts for months….I even got a bad wine stain on my rug, using this stuff, and without ruining the rug!!!

I LOVE Oxiclean. I get the powder, cleans the clothes, the sofa, the rug, everything! With the three kids into everything it has become my closet friend! Each new stain you reach into the closet and like a good friend it’s always there! I get the powder also, make a paste on the stain and it even takes dried chocolate out of pale pink shirts! Well, off to do my chores. Glad you found a stain remover at your inlaws. I have the same problem, they use Resolve carpet cleaner, my sister in law swears by it… I like my Oxiclean better.

Definitely an OxiClean believer here! I have the powder tub, the spray, and the new product along the lines of Tide Stain Release. You wouldn’t believe the stains I’ve gotten out! For those mystery stains that show up when hand-me-downs are pulled out of storage I soak and soak…sometimes up to several days, but it WORKS! (That’s with the powder tub.) Last year I brought in the exersaucer from the garage and found that the cloth toys were all moldy. I was about to throw it away when I decided to remove them and soak in OxiClean. After a few days they were PRISTINE. I did rinse them really well afterward.

I was a spray and wash snob I will have to try this. I have used spray for at least 12 years the reason I know is because my now 18 month wears some of his clothes. Spray and wash was awesome but I will give this a try. I will have to try this thanks. As a mother of boys I definately have a variety of stains. thanks for the tips.

I use the powder on all my diapers and haven’t yet had to sun! AND it doesn’t irritate my daughter’s bottom!

I had the same EXACT problem. I was despondent when they quit making Spray N’ Wash Dual Power. Once I switched to OxiClean I have never looked back! I keep an old toothbrush handy to rub it in with and I have gotten out tons of things. I also use less than I did of the Dual Power. A note of caution: I have put the OxiClean on and forgotten to wash right away and it has taken the color out of a couple of things. It IS pretty powerful, now I just pretreat as I am beginning to throw things in the wash and add the treated things before I close the lid. I am a big fan!

I have tried it in the past, but wasn’t impressed as it ate holes in a couple of shirts. This
totally could be user error. So, I am a SNW snob at the moment. Will try it again once it runs
out. I appreciate all the comments.

Loving the Oxiclean for spit up removal. My daughter seems to spit up by the bucket. I tried spraying with Shout (I’m a Shout girl, found it did wonders on my husband and son’s tough stains) but I had to remember every spot she had spit up during the day, not happening. Then if I did remember, I was spraying Shout by the bucket. Tried OxiClean because it was on sale at the Dollar General and I wanted to try it on cloth diapers. One scoop in with the load of baby clothes + normal detergent= clean baby clothes with no spit up stains. Happy me!

I would caution those with sensitive skin that OxiClean might not be the right solution. Granted I’ve never tried using the stain remover on it’s own, but years ago I used the detergent on my clothes, including my PJs. Sure, they were clean, but I woke up in the middle of the night covered in itchy hives.

Ok is there some secret to actually getting these sprays to work lol. I have tried them all and am still left with stains. But, I have got to figure it out because as of last week I have 5 children. Thanks for the tips 🙂

Oh, I am SO glad to see this! That SprayNWash Dual Power is the BEST stuff EVER!!!! I even wrote them a letter telling them how wonderful it is and how sad I was they quit making it…. they responded and said try Resolve… I was like, Really? Do you people EVER wash clothes???? Why is it they quit making the things that actually work? Anyway, I will definitely give this a try….. I bought 4 bottles of the SNW at drugstore.com right after it was discontinued, but I am using it up….

I am a huge fan of OxiClean Baby! I had some when my first daughter was born and loved it, and then of course couldn’t find it in the stores for a while… I recently found it again at Target but only in the baby section (of course!). It has yet to let me down 🙂

I have loved Oxi clean for a long time, but can’t usually find coupons for the regular spray that you have pictured, which is my favorite.
I then strayed and went to Shout and, ugh, still stains. I guess we are a greasy family cause they are everywhere because of my husband’s work, or cooking/cleaning or the kids.
So off I go and hope that this is for the original spray and not the bitty bottle of MaxForce which is way more expensive

Help – an anyone tell me how to get food grease stains out of solid color knit shirts. I get those on all my shirts and nothing seems to work.

Hi I just wanted to share a tip, I’ve been using a homemade oxi clean recipe that i came across on a different site for a few weeks now with much success. I pretreat clothes with stains in a solution of hot water, 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide for at least a few hrs or overnight, or if I just need to boost the laundry I skip the water and add the baking soda and peroxide directly into the washing machine. I’ve used this on both white clothes and colored clothes with success, the peroxide hasn’t had a bleaching effect I was worried could occur. This works so well it delved blueberry stains from white sleeves that had set in overnight. Hope it’s helpful!!

I just bought my first box of oxiclean powder. I am really grateful to have come across this page. I’m wondering if it will get out stains that has been set from months, even with repeat washing the stains have not even budge. So i wonder if oxiclean will help with those stubborn stains. How effective is it if, I just throw it in the washer just as I am about to wash. Looking forward to your responses. Will let you all know how the first wash goes :). Thank you

I have used it on old stains, but I usually soak it for a few days. Just make sure the fabric doesn’t bleed.

I sprayed some spray and wash on a spot and then rubbed the spot to help remove it. A few days later the skin began to peel from my palms and continues to do so after a week. I did rinse my hands but should have used soap and better still rubber clothes. So ladies do not make the same mistake I did. I presume I have chemical burns from the product on my hands.
