Have you ever come across an old dresser like this on the curb waiting to be picked up on trash day?
My father-in-law finds curbside discounts all the time! Many people would pass up this dresser because it is missing a bottom drawer and is kind of dirty.
If you are looking for a piece of furniture, don’t pass up nice solid wood pieces with minimal damage! You can really turn them into something beautiful!
I absolutely love this turquoise color reader Jessica painted the dresser. I also love how she removed additional drawers to make this a great buffet piece.
According to Jessica:
As you can see I removed 3 drawers, and cut a support from the left side. I added a back (using Mod Podge to secure the fabric to the back), middle divider, and shelf for the right side.
I made my own chalk paint for the entire thing, and even painted the insides and outsides of the drawers. Each drawer has fabric mod podged inside as well.
This turquoise color is so popular right now and I LOVE it! The best thing about painting furniture is that when you change your decor you can change your paint and have a new to you piece of furniture! Jessica also changed the handles on this dresser which really gives it a nice modern look.

I love your blog and facebook page. You have given me the courage to try something like this for myself. I bought some chalk paint for the idea of painting our daughters bookshelf. She will soon have a brightly colored room, with white furniture, and we didn’t want to shell out more money for a new bookshelf. We’ll see what we can do with some Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk paint, and I am going to find some fabric/or paper to Mod Podge onto the back. Hopefully we don’t make a huge mess out of the whole thing!
