This meal serves eight and was a big hit with the kids. Even my non-spaghetti sauce kids liked it!

We love spaghetti pie around here, too! It’s such a yummy frugal meal. We probably add a little more cheese, though… we love cheese… lol :o) Looks great!
Sometimes we also do the spaghetti with a bacon and onion sauce. Still frugal, just a spin on a popular dish. I posted the recipe to my site just last week.

Sounds delicious! I would have added more cheese too, but that was all I had left, lol!

This looks wonderful! I’ve really been enjoying your blog and have tried several of your recipes….some of your bread and your torilla recipe. Love them all!

Looks delicious! You didn’t specify what SIZE box of spaghetti–would you mind posting how many ounces? There are 8-ounce, 12-ounce, 16-ounce, and 32-ounce boxes in our market.
TheHappyHousewife says
The 16 oz box. Thanks for asking!

I make that here often. I use more cheese and pepporoni! It’s DELISH and a nice change instead of just spaghetti. 🙂

I had never heard of Spaghetti pie. We eat a lot of pasta (its so cheap!) so this will be an excellent way to try something new.
thanks!!

Thanks for the recipe! You saved dinner! I haven’t grocery shopped in over a week, we have been snowed in!

We’ve had this before I love it because it is a break from just spaghetti and meat sauce.

We make spaghetti pie like this (still frugal!):
Mid 16 ounces of cooked spaghetti with 3 eggs and 2 cups cottage cheese. Put this in the bottom of the pan and then top with a mixture of beef, parm, and spaghetti sauce. Sprinkle mozz on top and bake at 375 for 20 minutes. The bottom part is awesome!
TheHappyHousewife says
I am not a big fan of cottage cheese, but I bet I could substitute with ricotta. Yum!

This sounds yummy! I’ve never tried Spaghetti Pie before, but have wanted to. I have a HUGE stockpile of whole wheat pasta that I got for free!! Think I may try this next week! I’m in MD, and have been snowed in all week…I could have made this! I have all the ingredients already 🙂

The spaghetti pie looks fantastic! I would love to add more cheese on this pasta treat. Also I was wondering if substituting the meat with chicken is a good alternative to make this dish more healthy. What do you think?
TheHappyHousewife says
Yes, chicken would work well in this dish too. It would be more like a chicken parmesan casserole. Sounds delicious actually!

Our little rendition is called spaghetti cheese pie. You layer the noodles on the bottom, next layer a mixture of 8 oz. softened cream cheese, 8 0z. cottage cheese, and 1/4 cup sour cream (combined before layering), and top with spaghetti sauce and ground beef/ground turkey (cooked seperately and then combined). We serve this a lot with the college students that we minister to! They keep coming back for more, especially the guys!

We love Spaghetti Pie around here! Anytime I make spaghetti, I always make extra and then freeze it as Spaghetti Pie.

YUM!!! Looks so great, and so simple. Will have to try it (after our 5 day meal challenge has ended!)

I’ve made a similar casserole with macaroni. I like the spaghetti idea. It’s been so long since I bought regular spaghetti that I forgot how cheap it is. Because gluten free spaghetti is more expensive, it’s not one of my cheap meals, but it is easy and I still depend on it.

Thanks for posting this recipe. I’m making it right now, and smells so yummy baking in the oven 🙂 Can’t wait to dig in!

I just ended up with a bunch of leftover spaghetti and meatless sauce from a school function that was going to be thrown out. My hubby and I can’t eat it all, but I knew if I checked your blog I’d find some kind of clever way to freeze spaghetti – and here it is! Just add meat – and find a spot in the freezer to put it in!

Just made this the other day. It was SO good. I froze half before baking to use for another meal since there’s only two of us. Thank you for this great and easy recipe.
