For some reason salmon and Christmas go together in my house! We usually enjoy salmon on crackers, bagels, and toast throughout the Christmas season. Our favorite salmon meal is salmon turnovers. I found this recipe over 10 years ago in some dated cookbook. I modified it a bit and it has become a staple in our menu rotation.
Salmon Turnovers- (makes 8 turnovers)
Ingredients:
- 2 (6 oz)cans boneless salmon
- 6 oz cream cheese
- 1 bunch green onion chopped
- 1 celery stalk chopped
- 2 tubes crescent rolls ( I use the low fat kind)
Leave out cream cheese to soften
Cook onions and celery in about a tablespoon of butter on the stove top for 3 to 5 minutes.
Drain the salmon and put in a mixing bowl.
Mix together cooked onions, celery, cream cheese and salmon (drained)
Take the crescent rolls and put two together to make a square

Put a scoop (about 1/3 cup) of the mixture in the center of the square, then fold up the corners towards the center.
Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven.
This a great recipe for a quick meal. It takes about 30 minutes from start to finish, and is easy enough for a kid to make.

THIS is going on my list of morsels to make on my sidebar!!!! Even if it’s just for me since no one else really eats salmon in my house. That’s ok, more for me.

Those look great. I really miss making things with crescent rolls. I tried a gluten-free recipe recently. It was good but not the same and definitely not as quick and easy.
C. is better, but J. got it yesterday.

KristenTN recommended this recipe and I’m glad I stopped over to see it. It looks delicious! My family makes a Salmon Pattie recipe (really a salmon cake) but this takes it up another notch!

Hey Toni,
Love your recipe ideas. When I don’t know what to cook I check out your website! (o: We made the salmon turnovers tonight. Mike and I LOVED them but the kids didn’t care for them – picky kids!!! darn. Hannah doesn’t like tuna (and the salmon tasted alot like that and Quentin doesn’t like cresent rolls). Oh well. We thought they were delectable!!! Thanks! I’m going to make your baked ziti recipe soon. Hope you are all well. Congrats on your pregnancy! Exciting. Take care…. Love, Lori (Phillips)

Just wanted to let you know that I made your salmon turnovers for tonight’s dinner. They were very yummy and oh, so easy. I’m sure they’ll find their way to our menu again.

I had made these before, but made them last night again with a bit of a twist… Instead of making the filling that the recipe calls for, I used a Smoked Salmon Spread from Costco that we had left over from a party. Since the 2 first ingredients were salmon and cream cheese, I figured it should do the trick! I only had enough for 6, so I made 4 crescent rolls to go with them
The taste was stronger, from the “smoked” factor I think, but they were yummy none-the-less, and even easier than the original recipe, if that’s possible!
