The following is a post from Kristen.
My inspiration for this project came from the movie “The Sound of Music,” where receiving a telegram from somebody sounded special, more special than just receiving a letter.
Being a musical person myself, I find it very important to incorporate music into the lives of our children as much as possible. Therefore, I came up with the idea of crafting singing telegrams.
I chose to make a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star telegram.
I made a simple felt envelope by taking apart a paper envelope that I had and using it as a pattern.
I then used my hot glue gun to glue the envelope together. Sewing the envelope together is another option.
I used some white felt scraps to make an address label and a stamp and used a yellow felt scrap for a star decoration.
I used ” Puff Paint” to paint the stamp and the address label.
I copied a copy of “Twinkle twinkle little star” from a music book that I found at the library. I glued the music to felt so it would match the envelope.
I also cut out a felt star and glued it to a craft stick. Props can incease the fun of singing for a small child.
I placed everything in the envelope, and used a piece of velcro as a fastener.
You can make singing telegrams for any song you can think of!
I made singing telegrams for the songs “BINGO” and “My Favorite Things” as well, just so you can see how easy it is to think out of the box on this project.
This is an easy project. Singing telegrams are a great thing to have around. Singing songs for people can be a very special thing for a child. These singing telegrams are also a great way for children to learn how to read music and have fun!
