I am excited about my first months progress on the de-cluttering challenge. I have two large boxes in my basement that are ready to leave the house! I just need to count the items in order to add them to my tally. My totals are a little low this month because I haven’t officially pitched the two boxes.
Things that actually left my house this month.
- 13 bottles that are not BPA free. (trash)
- 1 case of baby formula (expired/ trash)
- 1 case of baby formula (Crisis pregnancy center)
- 4 cans baby formula (Crisis pregnancy center)
- 2 iPhones (sold on Ebay)
- 2 bags of shredded documents
January total: 23
I didn’t come close to the two items a day goal, but if I can get the big boxes in my basement to Goodwill in February I think I can catch up.
I also spent New Year’s Day shredding all my files and paperwork I didn’t need anymore. Did you know that you can use your shredded paper as garden mulch? It is the ultimate way to recycle!

Shredded paper as mulch? Wow!

My total for January was 53!!! YEAH!!!! I have been working on “purposeful” dejunking instead of tossing things to Goodwill. It’s been fun trying to think of who can use our “extras” 🙂 To make it simple I write my total for the day on my calendar. This month we got rid of:
cookbooks
tons of kids clothes
Christian Fiction
Momma clothes that were too snug BEFORE I got pregnant again 🙂
Papers, papers and more papers…. (but I forgot to count them)
Thanks for this motivation!!!!!!!!

I’m starting little by little to declutter but this month I’m working on eBay inventory. The major declutter will probably start in April (spring). 🙂

Yay for 2 big boxes leaving!! And I definitely think going through paperwork & shredding is definitely decluttering…I hate doing that!!

I have used shredded paper as mulch! It’s great for keeping weeds down. I put down the paper and then shred a brown paper sack or some cardboard for the top to cover the other colors of paper. But if your using it in a vegetable garden you have to be careful not to use items that may have toxins in them.

WAY TO GO!!!!!! I have gotten rid of about 40 items on freecycle. Trashed tons of expired food around 70 books. Getting closer lol. Still a ways to go.. Guess I better post it on my blog too!

I use shredded paper for my worm bins. So far I’ve gotten rid of 44 items. Long ways to go but slow and steady wins the race, right?
Amy @ Finer Things says
Now I need a paper shredder! We have a “mulch pit.” 🙂
