Today I did not work on the house at all. The painters arrived and DH worked on taking down more lights and trying to get as much construction debris in the garbage can so the trash guys would take it and we only have to make one run to the dump ./.
Today was a good day to take a break because I’m still super sore from yesterday. I did something to my hand and I have a three inch bruise going from my wrist up into the palm of my hand. It might be from pushing the trim in place, but who knows!
Here’s the funny thing about renovating. I’ve done this before (although not to this level at all!) and I’ve watched a lot of PBS type shows about renovating. I’ve also read numerous blog posts, instructional sites, and watched endless youtube videos.
They do not tell you that you will hurt in places you did not know existed by the time you are done.
And they should.
This morning I woke up at 5am and had to use the bathroom. I tried to get out of bed and nothing would move. Every bone, joint, and muscle ached.
I finally hobbled to the bathroom and could not even sit down!
Seriously folks. I almost pee’d myself because my legs hurt so bad from squatting while installing trim this week.
That’s the reality of renovation. Don’t let the shows fool you. This stuff hurts.
In good news, I snagged this nice light fixture off a FB swap group yesterday.
I paid about 1/2 of the retail price and it is new in box. I haven’t decided which bathroom I’m going to install it in yet, but I still have a few days to figure it out.
I stopped by the house this evening to see day one of painting.
It already looks SO GOOD!
The trim we installed has been caulked and painted.
The new closet doors for the kitchen and dining room have been painted a bright white. (I LOVE white so you’ll be seeing it a lot in this house)
The built-ins are being prepped for painting.
My new wall has its first coat of paint!
The ceilings have also been painted. They look amazing! It is crazy how in just one day a house can change so much.
I think for the first time DH finally saw in the house what I’ve been talking about for three months.
Yay!
I’m hoping to pick bathroom tile this weekend. Oh the fun of renovating, date nights have been traded in for trim installation and trips to Home Depot!
This is part of our ongoing renovation project for our new home in Florida. Our goal is to be done by Thanksgiving or else. Follow the daily accounts of our real life during this DIY renovation process here.
