Disclosure: I’m partnering with VTech to spread the word about their awesome cordless phone. All opinions and phone bills are my own.
I talk on the phone a lot. It’s how I stay connected with my family, friends, and most of my work involves phone calls. One of the things I love about talking on the phone is that as a mom you can do a bunch of other things while you are on the phone.
Now I know that people say multitasking is a myth, but everyone knows you can change a diaper, take out the trash, unload the dishwasher, make dinner, wipe noses, fold laundry, and mop a floor while you are on the phone.
In fact, if I couldn’t do those things I wouldn’t have time to talk to people because there is just too much that needs to get done each day around here.
Last week I received a VTech CS6859 cordless phone to try. I was excited because our current cordless phone no longer keeps a charge. If it isn’t on the charging station for most of the day and night you don’t have a phone.
I love the VTech CS6859’s sleek design and the fact it can be mounted on the wall. I plan on mounting it as soon as my kitchen is finished. It also has a base speakerphone which is awesome because my kids NEVER remember to return the phone to the base. And if I’m being honest, I rarely remember to do that either!
It also has caller ID which is a must in my house. Apparently when we moved we were given the number of some guy who hasn’t paid a bill in his entire life so our phone rings all day! With caller ID I can screen calls and don’t need to talk to people looking for the guy who use to have our number.
It also has an ECO mode which reserves energy making the battery last longer, and in my house with nine people we need it!
The signal is very clear even on the speakerphone which is a big plus for me since the phone is in the kitchen where I spend most of my day.
The phone is also reasonably priced at only $40 at Walmart and is expandable for up to 5 handsets.
Phones are one of those things that you don’t really think about until yours doesn’t work well anymore. The VTech CS6859 is a great phone for my active family.
You can win a VTech CS6859 phone for your family by entering my giveaway! Just leave a comment sharing what you are most likely to multitask when you are on the phone. For me it is definitely dishes!
Giveaway ends June 22, 2013.

I talk on the phone all the time because my parents live in Canada and I live in the USA and a home phone is the cheaper way to go! I do dishes, clean, and check my facebook while on the phone with them!

I mutli-task while I am on the phone all the time when cleaning. A big one for me is dishes but probably biggest of all is when I am picking up around the house, I had one of those headsets that you can plug right into the phone and clip the cordless to my clothes and can get a lot done.
This is very timely as I have been trying to decide what phone to get my is going out at this point and randomly shuts down while we are talking. Not so great when you are on hold for long periods and have to start all over.
Nicole d says
I am usually chasing a toddler while on the phone that or tending to the baby.
Cassie D says
I multitask folding laundry, changing diapers and preparing meals while on the phone. I do other things too but preparing meals is a biggie. Especially when you are on a two hour conference call while making dinner. We are looking for a new phone too, ours doesn’t like to hold a charge much either.

I actually doodle and take notes so if there is a way I can pray or be a blessing later, I’ll have a reminder.
Sometimes I’ll file or delete emails while on the phone, but that can become too distracting.

Heather B says
I usually multitask while making dinner, folding laundry and picking up the house.
DeeDee says
Living away from my family, I talk to my mom on the phone A LOT! I do many chores while on the phone but always dishes, and weeding the garden. And I too have phones that will not stay charged, which is quite inconvenient.
Mindy S. says
It would be nice to multitask while baking/cooking!
Shari says
My cordless is upstairs, so instead of using the ringing of the phone to do some quick stair-stepping multi-tasking exercise, I usually get stuck on the phone at my desk, and multi-task by checking email or beginning another computer task–so that when the phone call is over–I’m sucked in, and distracted from the job I was doing originally! I need VTech!
Joy says
I dust when on the phone.
Rejina williams says
I multi task washing clothes while on the phone

I like to fold and put away laundry while I’m talking on the phone! (Well, I like to get it DONE.)

Usually I do laundry, straighten the house or cook when on the phone. All of my phones are in bad shape, due to being old with very “tired” batteries. One will last only a couple of minutes.
Carrie Weston says
Typically I use the phone in the evening to multi task. My parents and childhood friends live several states away and my husband often travels for work, so I can catch up while cooking dinner or use the phone to let my son say goodnight to his daddy while putting him to bed when he is away.
Susan J says
We need a new phone! This would be great.
If I’m on the phone I’m usually doing laundry, or cooking dinner. Bleh! haha
Christine says
I have been stuck on a corded phone and tethered to the wall for the last 2 months. I would love to go back to doing dishes or cooking while I am on the phone.
Barbie H. says
My sister lives far away, so she calls me every day when she gets off work. That almost always coincides with the time I start cooking dinner. Cordless phones are a must, since I only have one working phone jack in the house. I bounce between cooking and checking on the kids for our 45-minute chats. Our phone has also started to lose its charge. Boo.
Kathy says
I am horrible at multitasking while on the phone. I am usually doing laundry or on the computer when the phone rings but I usually have to stop what I am doing to focus on the phone call. My family can definitely tell when I am trying to do something else while talking to them.
