We love Christmas! We have seven Christmas trees, and we try to make our own ornaments whenever possible.
This year we are trying to downsize some, but we will still make our own ornaments based on what the family likes at the time. This year my son loves Football, the Houston Texans in fact. My sister gave him a present last year wrapped in Houston Texans wrapping paper, and I just couldn’t throw it away. So we made a very simple but meaningful homemade ornament for his Texan Christmas Tree (that he decorated himself).
Wrapping Paper Ornament
Supplies:
- Wrapping Paper
- Paper Plates
- Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Glitter
- Foam Paint Brushes
Instructions:
- Cut out the designs you want to use from the wrapping paper.
- Cut out a design using a paper plate for the back ground. (We used a simple round shape.)
- Apply the wrapping paper using the Modge Podge. Just spread a layer on the back like glue.
- Then apply Mod Podge on the front of the wrapping paper.
- Let dry for about 20 minutes.
- Apply Mod Podge anywhere you desire glitter and sprinkle on the glitter. (Don’t cover up the lettering.) Let dry.
- Apply more Mod Podge to seal in the glitter so it won’t come off when it is touched. Let dry overnight.
Once dry, your ornament is ready to hang on a Christmas tree.
Other Suggestions:
- Add fringe to the edge.
- Instead of a paper plate use a glass ornament.
- Keep your team tree up until the Superbowl in 2014, we will.
