My recipe for whole wheat rolls is made in the bread machine. I use the dough setting and then form the dough into balls (about the size of a tangerine) and let rise for another 45 minutes or so. I bake at about 375 degrees for 20 minutes. This recipe makes about 24 rolls.
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4-4/12 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon gluten
- 1 Tablespoon yeast
Remember to follow the directions for the dough setting of your specific bread machines. All machines work differently.

I may be getting a bread machine this week (hopefully for almost free!) Where do you get gluten and is it necessary for this recipe?
Thanks!
Do I need to use bread machine yeast for this, or is regular ok?
I don’t have a bread machine, do you have a reciepe for these not using a bread machine? They look delicious!
