    BEAUTIFUL!!!

I get the hand cramp thing. I made a castle cake for my daughter’s birthday and couldn’t use my right hand for two days.

The cake took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, I did take breaks because the first coat of frosting had to set in the freezer.

I wonder if you can do this with boys, except with like G.I. Joe or something… can GI Joe wear a really big pair of pants??? Kidding!

This is very cute! You did a great job! All I have is boys, so I will never do a Barbie cake… **sniff, sniff…**

It looks great! I have made some interesting cakes for my ds’s scout troop – a hamburger and a castle. Both very hard. And the castle cake was so messy looking in the end. Your barbie cake is gorgeous.

OH MY GOODNESS!! I AM blown away. Trust me, the Barbie cakes I’m talking about never looked that fabulous. HOW fun. I am horrible with my kids’ cakes…lean towards a big cookie cake or my favorite (which came from procrastination) was buying a dozen Krispy Kreme, circling them/towering them on a plate, and then just putting good ole Betty Crocker frosting all over it. My boys loved it…I was saved from Worst Mom of the Year and it cracks me up now thinking about it. 🙂 Love this!

Your cake looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing your ideas and recipes.

Just a tip for anyone wanting to make this cake. If you have a large p.chef batter bowl you can cook your cake directly in that bowl and you will not have to cut the cakes as much and they will have a dome shape still.

I want to try this but I want to know if my glass mixing bowl will break if I stick it in my oven? Do they have to be pyrex brand or does any old glass bowl work?

I baked the cake at 350 degrees in the mixing bowl. My brand is pyrex, which says on the bottom, “oven safe.” My only precaution would be to not put the bowl in while it is cold. Make sure it is room temp.
      Thanks for asking!

My grandmother made me a cake like this nearly every year when I was a little girl. Needless to say, I ended up having a large collection of Barbie dolls.

Indi- The cake is a box mix, and the frosting is buttercream. I don’t really have a recipe for that. Sorry.
