31 Days of Read-Alouds: Mirette on the High Wire

Mirette on the High Wire is the story of a young girl who becomes enchanted with one of the tenants at her mother’s boarding house. Mirette convinces Bellini who walks on a clothesline with perfect balance, to teach her how to do the same.

When she learns that Bellini is fearful and that has kept him from performing she helps him overcome his fear.

This is a great book to include with any circus unit you are doing and is also a way to discuss with your children how to handle fear or help them talk through some of their fears.
