The holidays are fast approaching which also means the season for shipping packages. Fortunately, you don’t have to break the bank to deliver the perfect gifts to your loved ones. We’ve compiled some great tips to help you get free shipping and stay under budget this Christmas.

Shop at Retailers who Offer Free Shipping

Why shop at a retailer that charges for shipping when there are so many who offer it for free? Not sure which ones do? I use Ebates because they do all the work of hunting down deals for you. Type in your favorite store, grab a coupon code, and free shipping for over hundreds of retailers.

Another great option are retailers who offer to ship your order for free if you spend a minimum amount. Amazon will give you free shipping when you spend $35+ or sign up for an Amazon Prime Membership and all Amazon Prime items ship for free all year round.

Group Orders

There are few things more frustrating when shopping online than finding the perfect gifts only to be a couple dollars shy of the free shipping minimum. When this happens the pressure to settle and buy something extra is the strongest.

This year don’t get hustled into buying something that you don’t really want. Ask friends or family members if they would like combine orders with you. Sure, it can add a little extra organizing on your part. But you end up helping your loved ones and yourself and not paying to mail a gift.

Sign-up for Free Email and Text Alerts

During the holiday season retailers will be offering a flurry of deals. It can feel like you need to camp out in the stores just to keep up. The good news is there is another way.

Many of your favorite retailers have email and text alerts that keep you informed to the latest deals. Its not guaranteed but many of them might just have offers for free shipping.

Ship to Store Options

A lesser known option is having your gifts delivered directly to the stores. Several retailers, like Target and Walmart, offer free shipping if you are willing to pick it up from one of their locations.

It won’t save you a trip but it will save you money and time shopping around in the stores.

Free Shipping Day

This may not be the most celebrated day in December but it should certainly be more known. December 18th is Free Shipping Day and its honored by hundreds of retailers. Not only is the shipping free but delivery is guaranteed by Christmas.

When you take advantage of free shipping this holiday season you can spend your money on gifts. You will definitely be happier knowing your money went toward your loved ones and not the retailers.

If shipping a package is your only option, check out these tips for how to mail a package on the cheap.
