Heroes at Home: Gift Cards for Military from Sears

Back again for 2010, the Sears Heroes at Home program is open to all military families. Active Duty military can receive a free gift card from Sears to help with Christmas in 2010.

The 2010 Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry helps America’s military families enjoy more of Christmas each year.
In 2009, over 20,000 military families participated in the Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry program and received more than $6.7 million in gift card donations from the Sears community.

To sign up, visit the Sears website for all details and information. This program opens on October 13, 2010 at 9 am CST and closes on October 15, 2010 at 6pm 2010. Sign up now because this doesn’t last long. The Sears website will experience delays because of the high traffic from this deal. Don’t give up, keep trying and eventually the page will load.

You are eligible for this program if you are on active duty between October 13, 2010 and December 31, 2010 in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Reserves. You can read all the details and fine print on the Sears FAQ page.

Thank you Sears for Supporting our Troops in 2010!

  2. laura jane says:

This will absolutely help with Christmas but to see the support we have from big corporations is amazing!

  3. I am tring to smit the page and or app and it keeps saying error on page or internet conection not connecting when I have internet.

    • TheHappyHousewife says:

The only thing I can tell you is keep trying. The site is experiencing delays due to the heavy traffic load.

  4. krystal dickerson says:

i was wondering i messed up adn put my name insted of my husbands name would that poss. bump me out of this?? same last name though…. i did get a confermation. and didnt see the 9am till after i submited but said i should hear from them by oct. 25th or 27th.. can anyone help me.. im confused and never done this before. we have 3 boys under 5

    • TabbyLou says:

Redo it with your husband’s info. They run each application thru and check the information provided to make sure that person is active duty – if you used ur name it will get denied. Do it again and use the Sponsor’s info. =)

  5. Catherine S says:

It took a few refreshes, but I got through finally. Used Firefox instead of IE and that seemed to work better.
Husband is deploying tonight. :-( Will be useful for the new baby on the way.

  6. divrchk says:

It took almost 30 minutes of retrying but it finally went through. We did this last year and got about $300 in gift cards!

  7. Debbie says:

Thanks so much, just got my son signed up. Took about 45 minutes of trying but the page finally loaded, several attempts before they actually accepted the application. Thanks again.

  8. emily says:

I submitted the application but never received a confirmation message, just a blank page. Does that mean it did not go through?

  9. Ania Franks says:

I just submitted the form and it took me to the sears page, but it is blank and I have not received a confirmation…does it go to my email? Or do I keep trying to submit over and over again? Please help!

  10. Jessica says:

they don’t do it for people stationed overseas? I was going to sign up, but there are no AE or AA in the states section to do so…..

    • TheHappyHousewife says:

I’m not sure about overseas military. You’ll have to check on the Sears website.

      • Jessica says:

yeah it doesn’t say anything about it…. a friend is calling for me though!! thanks!!!

      • Laurie V. says:

It never mentioned APOs. I tried to call, but it wouldn’t take my call. I assume it was flooded with calls. I put down APO in the city, and put down New York as the state, since the mail gets routed there anyway. I used my APO zip code. I was told they only check the name and birthday for validation.

  11. Sarah says:

I have been trying for about an hour and a half now, and it look likes the site is down now :(

  12. Amber says:

I got through and this is what it said

“We will inform you of your status in the program via email by October 27th, 2010″

There was no confirmation number given.

    • Jacquelin says:

I just tried it too Amber and got that same message after I submitted. What a blessing it would be. Thanks for posting this Toni!

      • FRUGALICIOUSGIRL says:

I finally got my form submitted also just now (after many attempts) and got the same message, “we will inform you of your status”. Was I suppose to get a confirmation #? Great post today and THANK YOU!

  13. Sarah says:

Thanks for posting this. I was able to get through and put in our info. My husband will be gone until the end of January in Afghanistan and we have two small children. This would help tremendously and I appreciate Sears thoughtfulness. Thanks!!

    • Sarah says:

It said the same for me “we will inform you of your status in the program via email by October 27th, 2010.” No confirmation number given.

  14. Yvonne says:

so, i filled this out and i didn’t get a confirmation or anything but when i tried to do it again it said i’m already registered. am i good to go or should i keep trying?

  15. Brittany says:

This would be awesome. My husband is active duty CG and is currently underway. He SHOULD be home a few days before Christmas. *fingers crossed*

  23. Afton says:

I just called the 1800 number on the FAQ site and the representative said they are experiencing technical difficulties, but the site should be back up later today and will still be available through the 15th. YAY! So if you didn’t get a chance to sign up yet, it sounds like there will still be a chance. :)

  24. Mailyn Sierra says:

it keeps saying that it is temporary closed

  25. Jennifer says:

So if it is saying that it is closed and to try back later. How often should i keep trying?

The email confirmation I got said that if we haven’t gotten an email with our gift card information by tomorrow 11/22, to email heroesathome@sears.com with our name, wish registry ID number, and phone number. I haven’t gotten anything else from them yet, but I assume I will hear something tomorrow. Hope this helps.
