You’ve purchased the fabric softener sheets, now how do you get the most use for your money? Use them twice, or even three times! Fabric softener sheets have many uses and here are a few of them I’ve tried and recommend.
- Use only a half sheet in the dryer. You won’t notice a difference, and your box will last twice as long!
- Dust blinds with a used sheet. It takes the dust off and keeps it away longer.
- A used fabric softener sheet does a great job of cleaning dishes with baked on food. Just fill up the pot or pan with water and add a used sheet. Let it soak overnight and in the morning the food will come right off!
- Freshen a stinky drawer. Some furniture smells and that smell transfers to your clothes. Place a fabric softener sheet in the drawer to give your clothes a fresh smell.
- Deodorize stinky shoes. Place a sheet in those stinky gym shoes overnight. The smell will be gone the next day.

I use dryer sheets as mosquito repellant… clip one on your clothes (or your kids’ clothes) and toss one in the stroller and the mosquitoes stay away… even in humid Houston.

Toss one (even a used one) in your suitcase after you have unpacked to keep away any musty odors. Your suitcases will always be fresh for the next trip!

I tuck a dryer sheet behind the kitchen appliances.. they repel ants. I also take halves and tuck behind the closed radiators or place on window sills… the heat (by radiator in cool weather, sun in the nicer weather) slowly releases the wonderful smell into the rooms without using air-freshener or Fabreeze.

Used ones work great to take soap scum off your shower walls and floor. Just rub a dry used sheet on the dry tile and I comes right off!

I save them and use them to dust my furniture and glass in place of rags. It works really well. I don’t recommend using the cheap ones though. They’re thin and kinda scratchy and don’t work as well as the more cloth-like kinds.

Once a week I put a new fabric sheet in the bottom (under the bag) of our kitchen trashcan. It keeps any food or diaper ( we have little ones) smells at bay an last the whole week since it stays in the can when u change the bag. I also put them in my sons sneakers – he has terrible stinky feet syndrome!! I cut one in half and put a half in each shoe.

I take used ones and dust lampshades with them. Saw it on a tv show once. Works great, just make sure you do it outside! Haha!

Save your used dryer sheets for the next time you wash your car. You can dampen the sheet and use it to safely and effectively remove bugs from the front of your car.

Since I clean bathrooms and do laundry on the same day, I pace myself by using each dryer sheet that comes out of the load for a different bathroom’s shower or sink.

We stick unused sheets in our coat pockets in the winter. When we have a static problem, run the dryer sheet over our hands and hair and problem solved! Sometimes I rub the furniture with them if its very static-y .

After using in the dryer I reuse by overlapping my swiffer mop – it will take 2 of them. Great pick up of hair/dust/dirt and cut static during winter months.

I put half of a new dryer sheet on the back of a room fan that’s running. The whole house will smell like freshly dried laundry.

Great post! I currently cut all my dryer sheets in half. I also take my used fabric softner sheets and put them in my linen closet. Like you said it keeps away the funny smell things get from being in the closet to long.
