Paint Brush Storage

by Toni Herrbach

As you might have noticed I’ve been on a bit of a painting kick lately. One problem I’ve had is what do you do with the brushes, rollers, and other paint supplies when you’re not painting- but planning on using them in a few days.

I saw this clever storage idea on Pinterest.

If you look above the utility sink you’ll see a rod attached to the wall with hooks and containers. These are available at IKEA. Hanging the brushes and rollers over the sink gives them a place to drip and dry.

I have a few of these rods and hooks from IKEA and I love them. I would have never thought to use them to hang paint supplies, but if I ever get a laundry room sink I’ll be putting this up for sure!

We have that same rack from IKEA and we love it. It’s currently hanging in our storage room with various mops, brooms, etc. on it. We actually plan to get a few more of them next time we’re there.

Awesome idea!! That would be handy even in a basement or something too. Just with a drip pan underneath. Something you could easily remove and wash when it got “gooey”. I am going to work on that!!!

Oh I just finished repainting literally every room in my house! This would have been a huge help. I’ll have to keep it in mind for future painting. There is ALWAYS another room to paint…even when you’ve done them all! LOL

i’m in the midst of a pretty labor intensive painting project and i only have a few hours each day to dedicate to the task. when i’m done with my brushes for the day, instead of rinsing them out, i put them in a ziplock bag (with paint still on them!) and stick them in the freezer. then the next day, i take them out about 15 minutes before i’m ready to start so they can thaw. presto! i can pick right back up where i left off the day before.

(chalk this up to laziness, more than creativity. i HATE washing brushes!)

      Vicki,
A great idea! I did that too until I developed the “Paint Brush Storage Lid” by Gadgetry. It is now available on Amazon. Please have a look at my video if you will. Storing a paint brush now has never been easier. No more frozen plastic bags!
