What a great transformation! It looks so warm and inviting now. Removing those curtains made a huge difference. And your color choice is perfect. Nice work, Toni.

Thanks! I’m so glad I took the curtains down. I never liked them but kept them because they were “expensive.” Dumb reason to keep something you didn’t buy and don’t like!

I love the power of paint! On the last room that we re-did (my daughter’s) I lucked out and found 2 gallons of paint at Home Depot in the clearance bucket for $5 each, AND it printed a rebate form for $10 off 🙂

    Your family room looks beautiful!

Looks great! I love that color! I need to paint the entire first floor of our house and am not looking forward to it. That is my September/October job. Gotta be done by Thanksgiving!

Just curious as to what paint color you used? I absolutely love it. It looks expensive! Your house has some great architecture to work with!

It is Hubbard Squash from Sherwin Williams. SW paint is expensive, but when you buy it on sale it is the same price as Behr paint and I think it is much better. I really like it too, thanks!

I’ve used numerous paints over the years depending on what the budget will allow. Sherwin Williams is my favorite by far. One way I save on its cost is to have one neutral that you can buy a larger quantity of, say, for most every wall…like builder white but in your fave neutral that goes with lots of things. Then pick two or three accent colors that you can use in different rooms as well. For instance the gold/yellow I plan to use in the living room as an accent will also go in my master bedroom as the bedspread has the same color. That way you don’t have 20 different half gallons you’ve invested in…you use most of what you buy. Make sense…

Thank you! I had a relative who was a professional house painter and he swore by Sherwin Williams. He was a big believer in investing in a good paint. It’s nice to know that they run sales occasionally!

We have a rule at our house: If you can not buy the good stuff you just don’t buy. That goes for paint, tools, etc. We have used Behr a couple of times when we get it for $5 a gallon, otherwise we use only Sherwin Williams. It may mean waiting a while but I destest cheap paint. We also do the same thing with electronics, we buy top of the line or nothing so it takes us a while to get stuff.

Looks great. I am also painting kids bedrooms and reorganizing their rooms. It’s amazing what a gallon paint will do. Thanks for sharing your transformation..

LOVE the difference! Amazing how much better it looks! We did a similar thing with our bedroom this summer. . . painted it a light yellow, took out a lot of clutter. We really need new bedroom furniture, but it is amazing how much better the room looks without our changing one piece of furniture!

Amazing! It is so much more warm and inviting. Hopefully, you have inspired more people to paint! You didn’t really make much change in the overall design of the room, but it is like day and night in the effect. Thanks for sharing!

I painted the brass on my fireplace this summer and it looks incredible. I didn’t realize how much it would update the appearance of my room. Rustoleum’s High Heat paint was easy to use and dried perfectly. Easy to do! Took me only a few hours, drying time included!

I was thrilled to find your website, and I am finding a wealth of information exploring! Your room makeover looks fabulous…a much “fresher” look to it, and the removal of the curtains brightened the entire space. Looking forward to many more hours on your site. Thank you for all that you do!
