I saw my brother and his wife today. For some people that isn’t a big deal, but since he lives in Florida and we live in Maryland we don’t see each other that often.
We met in South Carolina to swap cars. (long story)
It was late and we all looked like we had just driven to South Carolina so no obligatory Facebook selfie to prove we were together.
It was great to see him, even if it was for only a few hours. I like days like today because the deployment doesn’t see that real. It just seems like another crazy day where my brother and I meet up at a South Carolina Olive Garden at 9pm to switch cars. 🙂
My husband has been deployed to the Middle East for 274 days. These are my real thoughts expressing my heart during his absence. I appreciate your prayers and kind words as we cope, adapt, and carry on without him until August 2014. To read from the beginning, click here.

I have benefited a lot from you blog. I have been saying a little prayer for you every day after I read it during my daughters nap-time. Wishing I could make you a week of freezer dinners!!!!
Just to take some of the stress off of your shoulders. Praying God give at least one belly laugh everyday!!

Hi,
I just want to tell you I have really enjoyed your blog. I think I found it originally because a friend recommended a recipe from here. I appreciate how real (down-to-earth) your writing is. It is encouraging to read of some of your struggles and victories that you have shared.
I have had relatively little time in my marriage to experience many things that you have, but I have laughed, cried, and pondered and shared some of your musings with others.
My husband is not deployed, but he is working a lot (underline). I resonate with some of your feelings about being a single parent. I have three kids under the age of four and we are in the midst, though hopefully finished with, a streak of mild but very contagious illnesses. I have had to miss Bible study and church and other times with friends. It can be very lonely.
I am reminded of a verse that I learned/meditated on when laboring with my second child. It is I Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always.”
Blessings!
