I have to admit I had a really hard time finishing books this year. I would get about halfway through a book and then start another one. That left me with numerous half-read books at the end of the year.
The strange thing is, I’ve never been one to not finish a book. I usually read them cover to cover in a few days. I think one of the contributing factors is that DH goes to bed super early and so my old habit of reading at night has stopped. I’m considering purchasing an e-reader (Kindle or Nook – suggestions?) so I can read in the dark.
I’ve compiled a list of twenty-eight books I’d like to read this year. Which means I’ll be reading through about two books a month. If you want to read along with me you can follow me on Facebook for dates and maybe even some discussions.

The Treasure Principle is one of my all time favorite books! It was such a fast read, but so full of truth! Crazy Love and Radical are also fantastic books! I’m working on making my reading list for this year right now! =)

I don’t think it matters that much if you get a Kindle or a Nook. If what you really want to do is read books then the e-readers that are designed for that specifically are best. You don’t need to spend extra money for a reader/tablet like a Kindle fire or Nook color, especially if you already use a computer for most of your online use. Now that Kindle has released their format to Libraries you can now download e-books from libraries on both the Kindle and Nook readers. Both Kindle and Nook offer some books for free. I have a Nook 1st edition (not the newer smaller version) that I very happy with. While you can’t read the e-ink in the dark, if you would have needed a light for a regular book, then you need light for the e-ink. The e-ink is much easier on the eyes if you plan on reading for extended time. Much easier on your eyes than just reading on a computer.

We have a few books in common for the year. Currently, I am reading Eat That Frog and LOVE it. I plan to start a book club in two weeks to discuss it with my readers. It really is bringing change to my life.

I loved the help! i “read” it as an audiobook, and the narrators were great! I have a nook touch and am completely happy, i agree with Tracie’s commentm and also plan to “root” mine to use the android market and have access to better aps, like the kindle app so i can read all the free amazon books too! i can read at night without a lamp with my nook color with no problem, i can switch the background to black and letters to white so its easier on the eyes. my friend has the smaller nook touch e-ink and she cant read on it at night without a lamp since there is no backlight, which sounds like it may defeat your purpose for getting one? so i’d watch that, i dont know if all e-ink screens are without backlight? and ditto the library downloads, my library has downloads as well; between amazon an nook free books, and the library downloads, i havdenot paid for even one book and it will take me years to read all my freebies- and i read over 120 books last year!

I got a Kindle Fire for Chirstmas too and downloaded The Hunger Games from the Kindle lending library. It is awesome! I highly recommend it. Hurry up and read it though, the movie comes out in March! 🙂

I’ve read several on your list! I recently got a Kindle Touch and I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVE it. I love that I can now borrow books from the library on it, and it has a ton of free books available directly from Amazon. Seems like more free titles than available for Nook.
I prefer the e-ink ereaders over the backlit ones since I like to read at night.

Okay, then here’s a novel suggestion. It’s shorter and a fast read, but soooo good. Sort of like a modern day prodigal son story. Lost December by Richard Paul Evans. Enjoy!

I agree a good novel is fun. I love mysteries and just finished John Sandford’s Storm Prey.
I hope to read more next year a fiction and a non fiction every month. Will share as I read.
I do plan to read the New Testiment a day at a time. I have the 5 minute New Testiment on my desk. Just read today’s reading. I plan to read through Proverbs this month a chapter a day.
I need to pick a fiction and a non fiction to read this month. Will post my choices on my blog soon.

I’m not quite as organized in my reading as you! I read books throughout the year as I become interested in them. Since I’ve become a mother I’ve had less time for reading. I’m interested in a few of the books you posted about, I’ll have to look into them.

You need a good novel on your list!

Looks like some great reads. Being a Librarian I’m not big on e books 🙁 I love the touch, smell, and sound of a real book. However as you’re shopping look for one that you can down load books from your local Library. My Library uses a system called overdrive. I hope you find one you love. Oh and I love! the Elm Creek Quilters. Happy New Year and Happy reading.

I got a Kindle Touch for Christmas and I love love love love it! Best gift so far. I have the kindle app to, so if I don’t have it with me I can keep reading on my phone while I’m out. And, there are a bunch of groups on facebook that post free books for kindle every day. Very fun to fill it up with free books!
