Does it seem like some most days are all work and no play? I know as moms we tend to serve others first and worry about ourselves last. It is just part of being a mom. However, it is easy to harbor resentment or grow bitter towards your husband or children on those exceptionally long and trying days.
One thing that helps me maintain a cheerful heart and attitude is to place inspirational quotes in places I frequent during the day. These little nuggets of wisdom or instruction help keep my heart in the right place and remind me of what is most important. I often read these words and am encourage to finish the day strong.
My favorite verse (when it comes to working around the house) sits right above my sink, a place where I spend a considerable amount of time during the day. 🙂
If you struggle with maintaining a cheerful attitude throughout the day I would encourage you to fill your home with verses or inspirational quotes to help remind you of what is most important in your life.
One thing that struck me when I visited Dave Ramsey’s studio was that the walls were filled with inspirational quotes from a variety of sources. Even reading them as I walked through the halls motivated me to be a better steward of our finances.
Words are powerful, so use them to encourage you throughout the day. Hang them on your walls, your bathroom mirror, or above your kitchen sink. Not only will it encourage you, it will make a positive impact on those around you as well.

I have signs with bible scriptures & motivational quotes ALL over my house. They really do help me get through some of my days. One of my many signs say “only God can turn a mess into a message”. I then take a deep breath & pray. Great post!

This post was very encouraging to me. I, too, love to put quotes all over the house in strategic locations. More than once they have lifted me out of a sour or depressed mood. Thanks!

I like this post. Words are powerful and it is nice to have reminders around the house of expressions and/or scriptures that help keep life in perspective.

I don’t know if this link will work, but last summer I painted the wall of my dining room with a variety of literary quotes. It cheaply filled the whole wall, is totally unique and reflects our families love of books. It was easy, I made an overhead of the different quotes using different fonts and then projected it onto the wall and had an easy guide to use. Love how it turned out…just for the cost of a little paint.

We’ve had different Bible verses around the house at different times. I have found that I’ll read them when they first go up, but over time I stop ‘seeing’ them. Does that make sense? The same way I stop ‘seeing’ the piles on the piano and buffet and the mess on my desk. Is there a way to avoid that kind of thing or am I just too distracted?

I know just what you mean – I put up verses that speak to me during Bible reading. After a few days, I have to consciously remember to look at them. … which I often forget. BUT I notice that when I leave them up, then a month or two later it will be just the verse I’ll need to motivate me or encourage someone. So … I don’t know how, but it does get into my head and heart. I leave them up even though I don’t ‘see’ them, and pray that God will help me to understand them and hide them in my heart. I think He does.

I have a few huge Bible verses up – one in my kitchen and one in our living room.
Kitchen “O taste and see that the LORD is good.” Psalm 34:8
Living room – “..but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
I’d love to do this with the bedrooms, too.

I participated in a Mom’s group at our church this past year, and one of the suggestions was to post a simple prayer that, while isn’t inspiring, has provided me the same sort of encouragement. It was simply, “Lord, Show Me Why You Made Me a Woman.” The implication was that it isn’t an accident, and that my womanhood has real purpose in His plan. This definitely reels me in on “those” days.

I have a daily rotation display at my kitchen sink window, my Bible open in our living room (calling me right now), and framed verses around the house as well. It helps stay focused.

I’ve always admired others’ homes that have beautiful verses and quotes displayed. I don’t have many prominently displayed. I’m changing that. Thanks.
