5 Simple Ways to Make Someone's Christmas a Little Merrier

It’s Christmas time, which means long lines, more traffic, crazy parking lots, and emotions running high. Here are a few things you can do to make someone else’s Christmas a little merrier.

Let someone go ahead of you in line

We’ve all been there. We have a cart full of toys and the person behind us has a pack of batteries. Offer to let them check out ahead of you.

Give up the parking spot.

Two cars coming from opposite ends of the row, one parking spot. Pass it up and let the other person have it.

Give a bigger tip.

If you can afford to eat out, you can afford to leave a little bit bigger tip this week. Especially if you are eating out on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Buy the person’s meal who is behind you in the drive thru, or pay their toll, etc….

When you get to the window tell the cashier you want to pay for the order of the person who is behind you in line.

Smile

You would be surprised at how a little smile can go a long way. Smile at strangers, say Merry Christmas, and hum a little festive tune as you go about your day. Joyful attitudes are contagious this time of year… so make sure you are spreading one.

We’ve been on the receiving end of this more than once. The most memorable was one Christmas when we went out to our favorite truck stop restaurant. The waitress was taking a while to bring us the bill, so we asked. To our surprise, a trucker who had commented on our kids had paid for our entire meal!

Whenever I find an online coupon, I always print out two…one for me and one for someone else that I may see in line. We both get to save.

I love this! I was st target the other day and still had my $10/3 sleepwear coupons I hadn’t used. A girl on her early 20’s had a bunch of sleepwear it looked like she was buying as gifts. I offered her a coupon and she took it. It turned out her total before the coupon was $134 and she only had $125, she was going to have to put something back if I hadn’t given her that coupon! She ended up having change and was so grateful! I just told her to gave a Merry Christmas! She was all smiles and told me to have the same. I felt soooooooo good about what I did! It didn’t cost me a dime, or even a few minutes of time and I was able to help someone! 🙂

I totally agree! I always let people go in front of me if they only have a few items. I will have to try the other ones out, and smiling is contagious!!

we don’t go out to eat much but when we do i always try to leave an unexpected large tip because I know how hard they work for so little pay! 🙂

    Great list!

Merry Christmas! Hope to see you again sometime in the near future! 🙂
