I want to be a fun mom. I want to allow my kids to bring their dirt covered rocks, sticks and occasional dead bug into the house. I want to let them finger paint more often than I do. I want to let them play in the rain and make mud pies… but too often I say no.
So when Play-Doh contacted me about trying out the new Burger Builder set, I realized this was my opportunity to say yes to my kids. When the set arrived my kids could not wait to open the box.
The set is really fun, and my older kids said they remembered having a similar set when they were younger, but it had the McDonald’s logo all over it. I was very please to see that this set was not affiliated with any fast food restaurant. It is hard to discourage your children from eating there if all their toys encourage it.
My kids were excited to get to work building burgers and other food items.
My rule follower was particularly proud of his creation.
My free spirit liked the set too… for different reasons.*
The kids had a great time making their Play-Doh creations. There were very excited when I told them about the Play-Doh’s playroom makeover. Your child can create a make-believe version of their favorite food, then upload a picture of your child’s creation for the opportunity to win the $10,000 Grand Prize, consisting of a $5,000 Playroom Makeover and a $5,000 School Doh-nation.
I couldn’t help but wonder… since we homeschool can we get a $5,000 school room makeover? 😉
How fun is that, your kids get to play with play-doh and maybe win a playroom makeover. I was ready to pull out all our play-doh supplies! My kids worked hard creating their contest entries, and I have to admit, it looked like a lot of fun. I might even make my own hamburger next time. 🙂
How about you, what fun things have you done with your kids lately?
*No Play-Doh was consumed during the making of this blog post.

I want to be a fun mom too. I’m trying to remember to say “yes” more often.
yes, we can play in the rain.
yes, we can go on a treasure hunt.
yes, we can make peanut butter balls.
etc. 🙂
P.S. I totally think homeschooling families should be included in that play-doh contest.

I remember the McDonald’s set from when I was little too. I didn’t have it myself, but it was the coolest play-doh set to have at the time and a lot of fun (at a friend’s house). My oldest is 3 and we have just started getting into it. He hasn’t yet figured out that you can do more with it that smash it and pull it apart. We will have to work on that!

Looks like your kiddos had a ball 🙂 My kiddos LOVE play doh but the smell of it makes me gag (go figure!), so I make my own with kool aid packets and it smells awesome and is practically free 🙂
Good job letting loose! It just inspired me to get playing with my kiddos.

Serenity-
That is so funny! I can’t stand the smell of kool aid! When I have made my own, we just add food coloring. Probably not the best choice, but I wouldn’t be able to stand it if it smelled like strawberries, lol!

Looks like they had a blast!!! I am working harder on being a fun mom, too. And it does take much work and effort, but we’re getting there.
A room makeover would be incredible…especially a schoolroom!

My boys used to love Play-Doh, I didn’t like cleaning up the mess off the floor or chairs, but we all had fun with it.
I need to figure out how to become a Product Tester like you 🙂

Looks like fun! I want to be a fun mom too! I tried to give my 2 year old play doh and he just wanted to eat it. Guess we’ll have to wait a little on that, lol!

When my kids were young I hated PlayDough. It always made a mess on the floors, and they would start arguing over who got what. I would have rather let them finger paint. But your kids do look like they are having fun.

What if you have a day every month or every few weeks where you do a ‘dirty’ activity. Something you come up with ahead of time. Or maybe a day where the kids can just go play in the dirt? I have no good ideas..but maybe you already know what the kids would like to do…seems like you had some ideas already. Giving them a time that you have planned may help. 🙂

That does look like a lot of fun! I’ve really been working on trying to say “yes” more. I want to be a FUN mom, too! 🙂

Play-Doh, crayons and new schoolbooks are three of my favorite things…I guess homeschooling really was inevitable for me!
Looks like you had a great time road-testing this set. I’m glad there are no advertisements/endorsements on it.
