Favorite Children's Bible Resources

I love books and especially books for my children. My pastor once told us that when he found a book he loved he bought four copies, one for each of his children. When they grew up and moved out they had a library to take with them. I love this idea and hope that I can do this one day too.

We’ve been through several children’s bibles over the years and I’ve found a few favorites. Not only do I love these books my children love them too. We are on a second copy of a few of these books because our original copies literally fell apart from being read over and over.

The Big Picture Story Bible

I read this book to our toddlers. They love the colorful pictures and the readings are short.

The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name

My husband has been reading this bible with our younger girls. They look forward to listening every night and will remind us if we forget. My beginning readers can usually read sections of this bible aloud.

Dangerous Journey: The Story of Pilgrim’s Progress

All my kids loved this version of Pilgrim’s Progress. It is great for family read alouds or even for children to read by themselves. I’m ordering a new one soon, our current copy is in pieces.

Discovering Jesus in Genesis

We used this book for bible last year and loved it! My kids begged to do bible every day and often asked for extra lessons because it meant another story. I highly recommend this book!

David C. Cook Journey through the Bible

We just started using this book with our history program this year. So far we are enjoying the summaries and the pictures. I wish I would have known about this book sooner because it is an excellent resource.

I heard about the Jesus Storybook Bible and went out and bought one since it sounded so awesome. Less than a week later, someone gifted one to me, and a month later someone gave me a bilingual version. I read the introduction with my 4-month-old yesterday, and am in love – even if he doesn’t quite grasp the concepts yet 🙂 Now I just have to decide who to gift the extras too 🙂
Have you ever read The Child’s Story Bible by Catherine Vos? Not so much for toddlers, but was a family favorite when I was growing up once we all hit Kindergarten age or so. My parents have given it to practically everyone they know with young children!

I just discovered your website. Love it! Thanks for the book recommendations. We have all girls, so the youngest has a Princess Bible that she loves. We need to stock our book shelf some more.

We love (and have) the Big Picture Bible. I’ll have to check out the other Bible’s too.

I forgot we may very well be kindred spirits in this department. We have all of these and love them too!

I love the Jesus Storybook Bible. It is interesting enough to hold the attention of the little ones, and it really weaves the themes of the Bible together well, instead of treating it as seperate stories. Love good resources…thanks!

Our sons loved Dangerous Journey before they were old enough to read the real Pilgrim’s Progress. We have seen a video of this also which is quite well-done.
