I cannot seem to kick this cold.<\/p>\n

The frustrating thing for me is that I rarely get sick. I’m a pretty healthy person and even when I get sick am able to recover quickly.<\/p>\n

The biggest problem is I feel worse in the morning and better in the afternoon. Typically I get up pretty early and get a lot done before my kids wake up. Lately that hasn’t been happening because I just don’t feel well when I wake up.<\/p>\n

So I seem to be falling more and more behind on the things I need to get done.<\/p>\n

The good news, I’ve been out twice this weekend. First I went to dinner with a friend and then I went to a 31 Gifts party. It was great to get out, but when I returned home I remembered why I don’t leave the house. Kids supervised by their 17 year-old brother don’t do what they are supposed to do.<\/p>\n

My 17 year-old is good babysitter. No one gets hurt, and everyone usually gets along. But like most 17 year-old boys, little details like making sure they pick up their towels after a shower or put their dishes in the dishwasher seem to escape him.<\/p>\n

It’s a trade off, free babysitting in exchange for a messy house. Some days it is worth it, some days it isn’t.<\/p>\n

My younger kids have been playing “snack shack” at lunch. My 11 year-old likes to make lunch for everyone in elaborate arrangements.<\/p>\n

This was just one of the many dishes that came out of our kitchen this weekend.<\/p>\n

This was actually one of the more simple dishes that he made.<\/p>\n

These are times when I struggle because my first instinct was to comment on the lack of nutrition on the plate. But when I looked up and saw their beaming faces I realized that that doesn’t really matter.<\/p>\n

My son did something awesome for his sisters and they loved it. So this weekend my kids survived on gummy’s, crackers, and potato chips. I’m okay with it. Or at least I’m trying to be.<\/p>\n
