Here’s something I’ve learned about living somewhere north of Florida. When the weather is decent, send the kids outside.<\/p>\n

Today was one of those days. I realized around noon that it was supposed to reach a balmy 55 degrees and declared the rest of the day outside day! I knew that snow was forecasted for the rest of the week and in Maryland we don’t usually get nice, pretty, fun to play in snow. We get wet, slippery, icy yuck, so I knew this was my chance.<\/p>\n

My kids played outside for most of the afternoon. This is good because they burn off a ton of energy and go to bed early.<\/p>\n

A friend dropped off dinner for us last night which was a huge blessing. There are two things I’ve pretty much given up doing during this deployment, cooking & laundry.<\/p>\n

Now I still do cook and do laundry, but those are the two things that seem to get away from me. Thankfully my kids don’t really mind eating sandwiches and cereal and I have to beg my boys to change their underwear so this arrangement hasn’t been too hard on all of us.<\/p>\n

My dislike for winter grows and I have a new appreciation for folks who live in places where they only get a few hours of sun a day. I’m looking forward to a warmer, sunnier Florida in a few weeks.<\/p>\n

In deployment news, the internet seems to be cooperating lately and we’ve actually been able to have some decent conversations over the past few days. Of course these conversations always seem to happen at 10am (prime homeschool time) or 11pm (prime bedtime) so it still throws off our routine.<\/p>\n

But it is worth it.<\/p>\n

This has actually been a very valuable lesson for me. I’m very routine driven and schedule oriented. Realizing that our only chance for conversation has to completely interrupt my day has taught me a little about priorities.<\/p>\n

Speaking of priorities… this little seven year old is something else.<\/p>\n

How is that even comfortable? She usually stands up while doing school but today she found a chair. I’m not sure you would call this sitting down… Maybe she’s going to grow up to be a Pilates instructor?<\/p>\n
