School work, groceries, costumes, candy, and friends.<\/p>\n<p>The kids were happy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/real-life\/files\/2013\/11\/photo-98.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"photo (98)\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/real-life\/files\/2013\/11\/photo-98-1024x865.jpg\" width=\"645\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He sent flowers.<\/p>\n<p>I went shopping and thought about getting back into a routine. I &#8216;m not ready. I filled the cart with frozen meals and giant boxes of cereal.<\/p>\n<p>I felt guilty so I added a five pound bag of organic carrots. I&#8217;ll have the kids eat one with their bowl of Capt&#8217;n Crunch.<\/p>\n<p>We need a new normal, but not today.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>My husband has been deployed to the Middle East for 274 days.
