As we progress, we need to learn what <em>integer<\/em> and <em>exponent<\/em> mean.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of fun ways to learn these math terms. Here are some sources and ideas.<\/p>\n<h2>Math Vocabulary Lists and Games<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Make a math vocabulary list from your curriculum on paper or index cards. Use this list to study.<\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spellingcity.com\/math-vocabulary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spelling City &#8211; math vocabulary lists and games<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.doe.virginia.gov\/instruction\/mathematics\/resources\/vocab_cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Math vocabulary word wall card printables\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/quizlet.com\/subject\/math-vocabulary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quizlet online math vocabulary cards\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Make a memory game with index cards with the word on one card and definition on the other<\/li>\n<li>Play Pictionary<\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.puzzle-maker.com\/CW\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Create your own crossword puzzle game<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Math Vocabulary Art<\/h2>\n<p>If students are having a particularly hard time remembering a math vocabulary word, have them create art to represent it.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, my son got confused with the term &#8220;less than.&#8221; He couldn&#8217;t remember what function that represented. He drew a comic with three frames. In the first frame, he drew an apple tree with 10 apples and <em>&#8220;ten apples&#8221;<\/em> written next to it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25575\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2014\/08\/math-vocabulary-comic-strip.jpg\" alt=\"math vocabulary comic strip\" width=\"500\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2014\/08\/math-vocabulary-comic-strip.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2014\/08\/math-vocabulary-comic-strip-300x153.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the next frame, three apples are falling off the tree with the seven remaining apples still on the tree and the words <em>&#8220;3 less than 10&#8221;<\/em> written next to it.
