She enjoys the challenge of taking unrelated items and turning them into something new. I keep a drawer of recycled items for just that purpose.<\/p>\n<p>She looked bored the other day, so I threw her some can lids. Within no time, she was gathering supplies and making this easy Christmas craft.<\/p>\n<h2>Easy Christmas Can Lid Craft<\/h2>\n<h4>Supplies Needed<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean can lids without sharp edges (like frozen juice can lids)<\/li>\n<li>Pretty Christmas-themed paper<\/li>\n<li>Scissors or circle cutter<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"affiliate link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=mod%20podge&amp;sprefix=mod+po%2Caps&amp;rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amod%20podge&amp;tag=thehaphou-20\" target=\"_blank\">Mod Podge<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Decorations (sequins, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Hot glue and ribbon, or magnet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Instructions<\/h4>\n<p>1.\u00a0Cut circles out of the paper just smaller than the diameter of the lid.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0On the backside of the paper, spread a thin layer of modge-podge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23510\" title=\"Easy Christmas Craft from Can Lids (step 2) | The Happy Housewife\" alt=\"Easy Christmas Craft from Can Lids (step 2) | The Happy Housewife\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/11\/can-lid-craft.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/11\/can-lid-craft.jpg 325w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/11\/can-lid-craft-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3. Stick the paper to the lid. Glue sequins, jewels or other findings you want to use onto the lid with the paper using the Mod Podge. Try grouping and layering. Be creative! Now, you can hot glue a loop of ribbon to the back to create an ornament or put a magnet on the back.<\/p>\n<p>Try this with various papers and findings. See what your kids come up with. They might have some great ideas for making this project their own.
