Seriously. When my kids were in pre-school the school gave me a pass on my turn as play dough mom. That was after three different &#8220;fail proof&#8221; recipes turned out runny or crumbly. That was the beginning and ending of my homemade play dough career.<\/p>\n<p>These days, my 12 year old daughter makes the play dough. She&#8217;s pretty good at it. Her favorite recipe is one that uses Jello. The kids love the color, the sweet scent, and the smooth texture. We like it better than store bought!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22007\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/Jello-Play-Dough-Ingredients.jpg\" alt=\"Jello Play Dough Ingredients\" width=\"450\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/Jello-Play-Dough-Ingredients.jpg 450w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/Jello-Play-Dough-Ingredients-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/Jello-Play-Dough-Ingredients-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Jello Play Dough Recipe<\/h3>\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup flour + 1\/2 cup extra<\/li>\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons salt<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons cream of tartar<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>1-3ounce package of Jello<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Directions<\/h4>\n<p>1. \u00a0Combine all ingredients (except the extra amount of flour) in a bowl.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22008\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/mixing-jello-play-dough.jpg\" alt=\"mixing jello play dough\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/mixing-jello-play-dough.jpg 450w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2013\/04\/mixing-jello-play-dough-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0When mixed, pour into non-stick sauce pan and heat on low.\u00a0Stir until a ball of dough forms. Be patient. When cool, knead dough adding extra flour as needed until dough is smooth and not sticky.
