{"id":20950,"date":"2012-12-11T09:00:53","date_gmt":"2012-12-11T14:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/?p=20950"},"modified":"2019-09-24T12:04:36","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T16:04:36","slug":"homeschool-cookie-exchange","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/homeschool-cookie-exchange\/","title":{"rendered":"Homeschool Cookie Exchange"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The following is a post from contributing writer\u00a0Stef.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The first thing my kids ask right after Thanksgiving \u00a0is, &#8220;When can we make Christmas cookies?<em>&#8221; \u00a0<\/em>Everyone likes cookies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/christmas-cookie-exchange.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20951\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/christmas-cookie-exchange.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/christmas-cookie-exchange.jpg 336w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/christmas-cookie-exchange-252x300.jpg 252w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nLast year we enjoyed getting together with friends to decorate and exchange Christmas cookies. \u00a0It was a fun day watching our boys create, have fun, and build on their friendships.<\/p>\n<p>Why not consider planning a homeschool cookie exchange this year! \u00a0While kids are waiting for cookies to bake, cool, or just need a bit of a sugar break, it&#8217;s\u00a0a great time to read the Christmas story or watch <a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0063FGFJ6\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0063FGFJ6&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=thehaphou-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Why Do We Call it Christmas?<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=thehaphou-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0063FGFJ6\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0by What&#8217;s In The Bible.<\/p>\n<p>If your kitchen is too small, consider teaming up with a friend. \u00a0They might offer the space, and you could provide the decorating supplies. \u00a0You do not have to invite every homeschooler in your county!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/12\/Gingerbread-Men.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21007\" title=\"Gingerbread Men\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/12\/Gingerbread-Men.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/12\/Gingerbread-Men.jpg 448w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/12\/Gingerbread-Men-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Homeschool Cookie Exchange Tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage moms to bring their premade cookies (or your oven will be on all day long)<\/li>\n<li>Provide decorating supplies: sprinkles, frosting, candy, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Set out a plastic easy-to-clean tablecloth on a large table<\/li>\n<li>Use plastic knives, spoons, and bowls<\/li>\n<li>Have more than one trash can handy<\/li>\n<li>Wrap Pringles cans or Oatmeal cans with holiday wrapping paper for cookie storage<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Play Christmas carols<\/li>\n<li>Offer hot chocolate or hot apple cider<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to relax.
