{"id":20819,"date":"2012-11-13T09:00:14","date_gmt":"2012-11-13T14:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/?p=20819"},"modified":"2015-06-11T15:58:48","modified_gmt":"2015-06-11T19:58:48","slug":"homeschool-moms-need-rest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/homeschool-moms-need-rest\/","title":{"rendered":"Homeschool Moms Need Rest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The following is a post from contributing writer\u00a0Stef.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Why as homeschool moms do we expect to perform like the\u00a0Energizer\u00a0Bunny? \u00a0God calls us <em>all<\/em> to rest &#8211; even the homeschool mom!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/rsz_homeschool_rest.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20856\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/rsz_homeschool_rest.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/rsz_homeschool_rest.jpg 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/11\/rsz_homeschool_rest-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reasons We Do Not Rest<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expectations to be perfect<\/li>\n<li>Shackled to the schedule<\/li>\n<li>Fear of becoming an unschooler<\/li>\n<li>Other people&#8217;s opinions\/inability to say no<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Can I reassure you that we are only hurting <em>ourselves<\/em> when we do not rest?<\/p>\n<p>Mom, you are not getting any extra credit points for working yourself dog tired. \u00a0Your children do not benefit if their teacher is exhausted, unexcited, or worn down. \u00a0You would not expect that from a public\/private school educator yet we do it to ourselves so easily.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas to Enjoy Rest<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set a good bedtime <strong>for everyone<\/strong> (yes, you young lady).<\/li>\n<li>Turn school off when it&#8217;s &#8220;down time&#8221; (that includes pinterest ideas, next year&#8217;s science fair admission, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Keep your schedule healthy and free from exploding (it&#8217;s ok to say no).<\/li>\n<li>Schedule &#8220;appointments&#8221; for unexpected projects (don&#8217;t do them right this instant right now).<\/li>\n<li>Plan a free afternoon (field trip, movie day, science experiments, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rest is good &#8211; enjoy it!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/author\/stef\/\">More posts from Stef<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a post from contributing writer\u00a0Stef.
