The timing involved a course my oldest son was planning to take with his friends, \u00a0and he truly was ready for the demands of high school. <strong>It just took some planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We sat down and said, &#8220;Okay, once we start high school we need to make sure we hit all the requirements for any college you might want to attend.&#8221; We researched, discussed, and made a tentative plan, subject to changes.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some great websites we used to help us out, including things I never considered and things that apply to everyone, college bound or not.<\/p>\n<h4>Resources for Planning the High School Years<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/donnayoung.org\/forms\/help\/high-school-list.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DonnaYoung.org<\/a> has a great list of things to consider when planning high school, including some great printables and other resources. There are even some ideas on what to do when.<\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hslda.org\/highschool\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HSLDA.org<\/a> also has some brochures and other things to consider when planning for high school. Whether you love them or hate them, there are some good resources here.<\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/student.collegeboard.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CollegeBoard.org<\/a> &#8211; \u00a0A major part of high school\/college prep is taking the SAT exam as well as others. The schedule is helpful for those students who want to take these exams and need to learn when, how, and where to take them.<\/li>\n<li><a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/besmart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BeSmart.com <\/a>&#8211; \u00a0Many colleges have people who cover just homeschool student admissions and you can usually find their contact information on the college website. This site, specific to my son&#8217;s first choice in colleges, is a good example of what is available for help with planning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Even if college is not in the plans, it&#8217;s a good idea to know what you want to cover during the high school years.
