You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master&#8217;s happiness!&#8221; Matthew 25:23<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But sometimes home educators get a little bent out of shape because &#8220;a child is supposed to obey&#8221; and they become stingy with rewards. \u00a0Or they tend to get itchy when thinking about buying something <em>new<\/em> to reward a hard working homeschooler who has too many legos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rather than dig into your piggy bank to reward a homeschooler &#8211; why not dig into your time?!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/01\/playing-scrabble.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19115\" title=\"playing-scrabble\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/01\/playing-scrabble.jpg\" alt=\"playing scrabble\" width=\"400\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/01\/playing-scrabble.jpg 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/homeschool\/files\/2012\/01\/playing-scrabble-300x273.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Reward with game night and\/or let a child skip filling in one assignment in order to play (it&#8217;s always educational).<\/p>\n<p>Or put down the &#8220;to do list&#8221; and put together a puzzle.<\/p>\n<p>Make ice pops and swing outside once they conquer cursive, multiplication, or writing their name.<\/p>\n<p>Bake something yummy together (you can always find math in the kitchen so sneak in a lesson).<\/p>\n<p>Give free time to read a new magazine or even an old one.<\/p>\n<p>Crack open the piggy bank for some &#8220;cheap&#8221; fun and go skating or bowling! \u00a0Can&#8217;t get out &#8211; play it together on the Wii!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homeschool reinforcements, rewards, and incentives do not have to fall under the bribery rain cloud.<\/strong> \u00a0My 4yr old is content with a sticker for a job well done. \u00a0My 8 yr old is happy to sit down and play a game together. \u00a0You do not have to buy out Toys R Us to reward a child &#8211; simply\u00a0<strong>give them your time and love for a job well done.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a post from Stef.
