I believe that our children learn best from doing and growing in a natural, loving environment, without a lot of academic pressure. That being said, there are some milestones that your preschooler should reach during this time in their lives.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Colors:<\/strong> red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, brown, white, black<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shapes:<\/strong> circle, square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, oval, semi-circle, star, crescent<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alphabet Letters:<\/strong> lower case letter identification<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beginning Calendar Work:<\/strong> days of the week, months of the year, today, tomorrow, yesterday (this can be a very difficult concept for kids, you should not expect mastery, just familiarity)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Math:<\/strong> numbers 1-10, counting items<\/li>\n<li><strong>Holidays:<\/strong> Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Physical Development<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Run on tip toes<\/li>\n<li>Hop on one foot<\/li>\n<li>Gallop<\/li>\n<li>Begin to skip<\/li>\n<li>Throw a ball overhand<\/li>\n<li>Pump themselves on a swing<\/li>\n<li>Unzipping, unsnapping, unbuttoning<\/li>\n<li>Dress themselves<\/li>\n<li>Cut a line with scissors<\/li>\n<li>Lace their own shoes<\/li>\n<li>Write crude letters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>More Preschooler Posts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/got-preschoolers-4\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Energetic Activities<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/got-preschoolers-3\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Great Preschool Books and Toys<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/got-preschoolers-2\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Messy Fun<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/got-preschoolers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Make it Yourself Preschool Activities<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I want to preface this post by saying that I am not a big advocate of heavy academics during the early years.
