After unpacking all our Christmas decor this year, I realized quickly that most of my holiday season was going to be just a series of me saying “don’t touch that!” while my kids continued their attempts to touch and rearrange all the breakable decorations that have lasted generations before them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They just love being a part of the decorating process, but it’s hard when <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The decorations are breakable (as previously mentioned) and <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. I like my Christmas decorations placed a certain way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an effort to keep all of us from going crazy, I whipped out the cookie cutters and made this cute little DIY Christmas garland craft with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We used our stocking cookie cutter to trace out the shapes, but you can use any Christmas themed shape you want! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recommend tracing on sturdy card stock to give your shapes structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then after I cut all the shapes out (this was the hardest part, but only because my kids were staring over my shoulder and begging me to hurry up the entire time!), I let the kids go crazy with the markers, decorating any way they wanted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, all that was left was to make few hole punches, string some twine, and then hang it up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as I finished taking pictures, my kids wanted to move their stockings to their bedroom doors, which made their decorating feel even more personal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m sure they’ll change their minds though, and be moving them all around the house in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s okay, because it’s not breakable and it’s easy to remake if the paper gets ripped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole craft took only around ten minutes of effort from me, but provided a solid half hour of coloring time for my kids, and they were so excited to contribute to the Christmas decorating fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christmas Garland<\/h2>\n\t\t

This easy Christmas garland craft is a great way to give the kids something to do during the holidays.<\/p>\t<\/p>\n\t

  • 5 pieces Card stock<\/li>
  • 1 Scissors<\/li>
  • Cookie Cutters<\/li>
  • Markers, colored pencils, paint<\/li>
  • Hole punch<\/li>
  • Twine<\/li><\/ul>\t<\/div>\n\t

    1. Trace shapes on card stock using the cookie cutters.<\/p><\/li>

    2. Cut out shapes.<\/p><\/li>

    3. Decorate shapes.<\/p><\/li>

    4. Punch holes in the shapes for the twine. <\/p><\/li>

    5. Thread the twine through the shapes to create the garland. <\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t<\/div>\n\t
