This renovation stuff is hard work! Today we spent most of the day removing carpet and pad from the house and throwing it in the dumpster. I’m more sore than I ever was when I had a trainer.<\/p>\n

We made a ton of progress today on the house. The wallpaper has been totally removed from the dining room and we started on the entry. The kitchen has been cleaned out and we managed to get the 56 inch SubZero fridge into the garage with the help of my nephews.<\/p>\n

The fridge was so big and heavy they had to take it out the double front doors and wheel it down our street to our back entrance. It was a huge project but I’m glad the fridge is out of the kitchen so we have more space to work.<\/p>\n

As with any remodel the more you peel away, the more problems you find. We are going to have to do a big more dry wall repaired than we first anticipated. I’ve come to accept that with any major remodel project\u00a0double the time and the cost and you won’t have any surprises. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The dining room wallpaper was removed without much difficulty.<\/p>\n

I still hate wallpaper with every fiber of my being, but I’m getting really good at removing it.<\/p>\n

Thankfully my ten year old LOVES to remove wallpaper. She is very good at it and hasn’t made a single dent in the drywall. I’m glad she loves doing it, because I do not, and she’s helped me quite a bit over the past three days.<\/p>\n

Also, I’m going to need a manicure when this project is over. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

I’ve also come to the conclusion that all carpet is gross.<\/p>\n

Can you see the amount of dirt I swept up in one room? I wish we could afford to put hardwood throughout the entire house, but it’s not in the budget. I’m going to start saving right away to eventually replace all the carpet.<\/p>\n

Even if you vacuum every day, carpet gets so, so dirty. I feel like I will be picking dirt out of my teeth and blowing it out of my nose for the next year after hauling it all out of the house.<\/p>\n

One of our many surprises today was that our living room was tiled years ago.\u00a0Underneath the carpet was all the mortar residue that will have to be chiseled up before we can put the wood down.<\/p>\n

We have to rent the machine to get up the tile in the kitchen and dining room, but this just adds another project to our list.<\/p>\n
