Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, and I decided that my home needed a little holiday decor.\u00a0I found some red yarn in my stash and decided to use it to make a Valentine’s Day wreath. You can make this fun pom-pom heart wreath with just a few supplies.<\/p>\n

1. First, you need to make about 20 or more pom-poms.\u00a0Cut a piece of yarn about 10 inches long. This will be the tie for the pom-pom.<\/span><\/p>\n 2. Using your pointer and middle finger on one hand begin wrapping yarn around your fingers.<\/p>\n It is a good idea to spread your fingers apart slightly.<\/p>\n 3. Continue wrapping the yarn around your fingers for a total of 100 times.<\/p>\n 4. Slide the 10 inch piece of yarn you cut in step 1 through the middle of the yarn you wound around your fingers.<\/p>\n I usually feed the tie through the right side and slip my fingers out of the yarn on the left side at the same time.<\/p>\n 5. Pull the tie tightly and double knot it.<\/p>\n 6. Slide your scissors through the middle and cut the yarn like in the picture below.<\/p>\n You should end up with something like the shaggy pom-pom pictured below.<\/p>\n 7. Use the scissors to give your pom-pom a “haircut” and even up all of the yarn.<\/p>\n Notice the difference in the pictures above and below. I didn’t cut much yarn off in the picture above, but I cut quite a bit off in the picture below.<\/p>\n I chose to leave the pom-poms a little longer for my wreath, but I do really like the look of the smaller pom-poms as well. Repeat the above steps until you have at least 20 pom-poms.<\/p>\n 8. Bend the wire hanger into a heart shape. This will become your wreath form.<\/p>\n 9. Tie the pom-poms onto the wreath by double knotting the ties.<\/p>\n 10. Clip the excess length off of the ties.<\/p>\n I found that my pom-poms wanted to rotate so I used some duct tape on the back side to keep them in place.<\/p>\n Hot glue would probably also work.<\/p>\n I decided to add a little bow to my wreath and I like how it looks hanging in my home.<\/p>\n Now that you know how to make pom-poms, you can do all sorts of things like garlands, wreaths, flowers, bookmarks, etc.<\/p>\n You can even make larger pom-poms by adding more fingers when wrapping the yarn.<\/p>\n The possibilities are endless!<\/p>\n Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, and I decided that my home needed a little holiday decor.\u00a0I found some red yarn in my stash and decided to use it to make a Valentine’s Day wreath.
