Lay out the T-shirt so that the hem (the bottom of the T-shirt) is even and the T-shirt is fairly smooth.<\/p>\n<p>2. Place the ruler across the T-shirt just below the sleeves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-Shirt-Shrug-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26295\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-Shirt-Shrug-2.jpg\" alt=\"T-Shirt Shrug 2\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-Shirt-Shrug-2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-Shirt-Shrug-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Using scissors or a rotary cutter cut off the top of the T-shirt.<\/p>\n<p>4. Turn the T-shirt wrong side out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26296\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-3.jpg\" alt=\"T-shirt Shrug 3\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-3.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-3-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Place a pin 6 inches from the right side and another pin 6 inches from the left side of the T-shirt.<\/p>\n<p>6. Add a few more pins in between to hold the fabric together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26297\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-4.jpg\" alt=\"T-shirt Shrug 4\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-4.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/05\/T-shirt-Shrug-4-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>7. Sew from the first pin to the last pin using a 1\/4 inch seam allowance. Turn the T-shirt right side out.<\/p>\n<p>9. Give the fabric at the 6 inch openings a little tug so the edges curl under.<\/p>\n<p>10.
