Lay the T-shirt out flat on the mat making sure both layers are even.<\/p>\n<p>2. Using a ruler cut the T-shirt into 1 inch strips.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: I like to use between 9 and 12 strips for my necklaces. Stretch each strip as much as you can. Gather all of the T-shirt strips together so that they are laying on top of each other.<\/p>\n<p>7. I used 10 strips and doubled the necklace around my neck.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25423 alignnone\" title=\"Upcycled T-shirt Necklace 8\" alt=\"Upcycled T-shirt Necklace 8\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-8.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-8.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-8-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For this next necklace I used a youth (6-8) T-shirt and was able to get 9 strips out of it. It is obviously much shorter than the grey necklace pictured above.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-9.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25424 alignnone\" title=\"Upcycled T-shirt Necklace 9\" alt=\"Upcycled T-shirt Necklace 9\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-9.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-9.jpg 500w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2013\/02\/Upcycled-T-shirt-Necklace-9-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the T-shirt necklace pictured at the beginning of this post I used a maternity T-shirt that had seams on each side.
