It&#8217;s dirt cheap (I made my pumpkins for less than $0.30 each!) and they last much longer than the orange beauties you&#8217;ll find in the field.<\/p>\n<p>No one will believe you when you tell them these gourds are made from toilet paper! It&#8217;s the perfect activity to involove young children in too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23249\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-2.png 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-2-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Supplies \u00a0needed:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>a roll of toilet paper<\/li>\n<li>flyers or newsprint<\/li>\n<li>a scissors<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 yard of orange fabric per pumpkin<\/li>\n<li>one or two fake leaves<\/li>\n<li>scotch tape<\/li>\n<li>raffia<\/li>\n<li>a twig for the peduncle (I love saying that word)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Instructions:<\/h4>\n<p>Start by rolling sections of newsprint and attaching them to the toilet paper roll with scotch tape. Attach the tape to the inside of the toilet paper tube.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23250\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-3.png 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-3-300x288.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Continue until you&#8217;ve covered the roll with six or seven sections.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23251\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-4.png 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-4-300x294.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Place the roll in the center your fabric, wrong side up, and stuff the excess into the middle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23252\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-5.png 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/08\/pumpkin-5-300x270.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Insert the peduncle into the middle of the tube (secure with glue, if necessary), attach a few leaves, tie on some raffia and you&#8217;re done! Experiment with different fabrics for a truly unique look.
