I finally made a &#8220;homework box&#8221; that I keep in the car. It started as a former small plastic pencil box, but I&#8217;ve since upgraded to a sturdier plastic bin. It now contains a few pencils, crayons, a glue stick, a stapler, and a pair of scissors. It&#8217;s generally enough to get the kids going on most of their homework.
