It&#8217;s a cute, inexpensive way of making sure your basic sewing supplies are available when you need them.<\/p>\n<h4>Supplies Needed<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a01 glass canning jar with ring and lid<\/li>\n<li>12&#8243; x 12&#8243; square of fabric<\/li>\n<li>steel wool<\/li>\n<li>cotton stuffing<\/li>\n<li>crazy glue<\/li>\n<li>spools of thread in neutral colors<\/li>\n<li>a measuring tape<\/li>\n<li>small scissors<\/li>\n<li>a thimble<\/li>\n<li>sewing needles<\/li>\n<li>safety pins<\/li>\n<li>sewing pins<\/li>\n<li>buttons<\/li>\n<li>*optional: spray paint and accessories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Instructions<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22907\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-1.png 450w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-1-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. To make the\u00a0pincushion\u00a0lid, cut the fabric into two circles slightly larger than the ring of your jar. Sew wrong sides together, leaving a 1&#8243; opening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22908\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-2.png 450w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-2-300x224.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Turn the circle right-side out and stuff with steel wool (this helps to keep the pins sharp). Add in enough cotton stuffing so the top of your pincushion is able to keep a smooth, round shape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22909\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-3.png 450w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/07\/sewing-kit-3-280x300.png 280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Pop your pincushion through the ring of the jar.
