During this time out, <strong>everyone<\/strong> in the family should place their blackberries, phones, computers, remote controls, video games, and anything else that can distract family members from spending quality time with each other, into time out!<\/p>\n<h3>How to Make a Technology Time Out<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5415.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22060 aligncenter\" title=\"time out supplies\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5415-1024x756.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5415-1024x756.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5415-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Supplies<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 piece of white card stock<\/li>\n<li>1 black marker<\/li>\n<li>1 brad<\/li>\n<li>scissors<\/li>\n<li>tape<\/li>\n<li>1 craft stick<\/li>\n<li>a circular item for tracing a circle<\/li>\n<li>1 container that will fit your family&#8217;s communication devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Instructions<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>1. \u00a0Trace a circle<\/strong> on the piece of card stock using the black marker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5418.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-22063\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5418-1024x765.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5418-1024x765.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN5418-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/a><strong>2.<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>Cut out the circle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>\u00a0Fold the circle into quarters<\/strong> and unfold so you can see the creases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>Write numbers on the clock<\/strong> using the creases as your guide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN54222.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-22058\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN54222-1024x751.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"553\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN54222-1024x751.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/06\/DSCN54222-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>Make clock hands<\/strong>, using scrap paper from the card stock.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. \u00a0Attach the hands to the clock<\/strong> using the craft brad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> <strong>Tape a craft stick to the back of the clock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Attach the clock onto a container<\/strong> that will hold your communication devices while they are in time out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0Set the time<\/strong> on the paper clock for when your family members can pick up their communication devices again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong> <strong>Conduct your time out. \u00a0<\/strong>Leave all your communication devices and other electronics in time out for a while and spend quality uninterrupted time with your family and friends!<\/p>\n<p>In addition to having a technology time out, you could use this container to implement a technology curfew. \u00a0Or, you can be really brave, and attempt to host a tech free playdate or party.<\/p>\n<p>I am sure you will have such a great time catching up with your loved ones \u00a0while your communication devices are in time out that you won&#8217;t even miss being connected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/author\/kristen\/\">More posts from Kristen<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following post is from contributing writer\u00a0Kristen.
