It does not have to cost anything! \u00a0Having a toy exchange can also cut down on the amount of clutter in your house.\u00a0 You might be surprised at how fast things accumulate after you have kids.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21813\" style=\"width: 471px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/2-Vertical.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21813\" class=\" wp-image-21813 \" title=\"baby toys\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/2-Vertical.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"461\" height=\"587\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/2-Vertical.jpg 576w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/2-Vertical-235x300.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21813\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My son gave away three toys and received three NEW toys!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was easy for me to organize a toy exchange. \u00a0I have three good friends who, like me, \u00a0all had their first child towards the end of 2011. \u00a0I organized a \u201c Toy Exchange\u201d with them.\u00a0 All four of us brought 3 baby toys that we thought our kids had mastered and went home with three new toys for our babies to play with.<\/p>\n<h4>How to Organize a Toy Exchange<\/h4>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>1)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>E-mail your friends who have kids the same age as your kids to see if they are interested in participating. <\/strong>The friends I asked to participate are all within the same social circle. \u00a0Also, I suggest to keep this small, you don&#8217;t want to exchange all the toys in your house.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Decide on a time and place, where the Toy exchange will take place. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Discuss what type of toys will be exchanged.\u00a0<\/strong>Before the toy exchange takes place, the participants should discuss what type of toys they are planning on exchanging.\u00a0 This way each child is getting a fair trade when they are so graciously giving something away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Before the toy exchange, wash the toys you are exchanging. <\/strong>\u00a0All Plastic non battery toys can be washed by hand in the sink or you can also run them in the dishwasher. \u00a0If a toy has batteries, you can wipe it down with a soap and water rag. \u00a0 All Stuffed toys can be cleaned in the washing machine.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Exchange your toys!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Just incase you are not sure if the other participants washed their toys, wash your new ones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Watch your child as they play with their new toys! \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>When I pulled out my six month old son&#8217;s new toys, he got really excited and started smiling and kicking! \u00a0What a great way to change up the rotation of toys without spending any money!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following post is from contributing writer\u00a0Kristen.
