I didn&#8217;t want to use anything super abrasive on my pots and pans so I just left them clean and spotty.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to try baking soda on my small sauce pot which had residue along the bottom that did not come off in the dishwasher or by hand washing. Notice all the scratches on the bottom from trying to scrub it off?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerbefore.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21521\" title=\"arm&amp;hammerbefore\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerbefore.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerbefore.jpg 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerbefore-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I put about a tablespoon of baking soda in the bottom of the dry pan and used a damp sponge to gently scrub the bottom of the pot.<\/p>\n<p>Because the baking soda turned into paste it was hard for me to see if I was making any progress. After about 30 seconds I rinsed out the pot and saw that the residue was significantly less than when I started. I was tempted to say that was good enough and put the pot away, but I thought I would give it one more try to see if I could get it all off.<\/p>\n<p>After scrubbing for about a minute I rinsed out the pan and when I was finished it looked brand new! Too bad I didn&#8217;t know about this <a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/cooking\/will-my-pots-and-pans-ever-shine-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when my pans all hung from a pot rack in the middle of my kitchen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerafter.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21520\" title=\"arm&amp;hammerafter\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerafter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerafter.jpg 400w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/armhammerafter-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wish I would have tried baking soda sooner, I probably could have avoided some of the scratches on the bottom of my pan!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago I shared with you that my pots and pans seem to have a residue on them that doesn&#8217;t come off with dish soap and a scrubber.
