{"id":21354,"date":"2012-05-10T09:00:39","date_gmt":"2012-05-10T13:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/?p=21354"},"modified":"2014-01-27T21:18:50","modified_gmt":"2014-01-28T02:18:50","slug":"baby-supply-box","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/baby-supply-box\/","title":{"rendered":"Baby Supply Box"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The following is a post from contributing writer <a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/yNpDjM\">Angie<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21562\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/baby_supply_boxl.jpg\" alt=\"Baby Supply Box\" width=\"435\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/baby_supply_boxl.jpg 435w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2012\/05\/baby_supply_boxl-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I spent most of my days as the mother of infants in small apartments or single story houses.\u00a0 Our changing table was always within an easy distance to get to at all times.\u00a0 I realized recently that having a larger home and an infant can pose an interesting dilemma &#8212; sometimes the baby supplies can be far away!<\/p>\n<p>One of my friends, who recently gave birth to her seventh child, has a house with a frequently used basement, as well as two stories.\u00a0 While she has a central location on their main floor for most of the things that the baby needs, she would be walking the stairs often to make it to that location, as bedrooms are upstairs and homeschooling takes place in the basement.<\/p>\n<h3>Enter The Baby Supply Box<\/h3>\n<p>It is possible, of course, that given my history of smell dwellings, this is not an earth shattering idea for those mothers of littles who have large homes.\u00a0 However, I was thoroughly impressed when my friend was showing me homeschooling items (in the basement) and needed something for the baby.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of this necessitating a trip up the stairs with the baby, she simply grabbed out a clear box that contained all of the supplies that someone might need in a pinch with a baby:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diapers<\/li>\n<li>Wipes<\/li>\n<li>Diaper Cream<\/li>\n<li>Cloth Diapers (for use as burp cloths)<\/li>\n<li>Pacifiers<\/li>\n<li>A Change of Clothing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When setting up a baby supply box for yourself, keep in mind other items that might be necessary for your baby, but also remember \u00a0that this is just a small box to grab from quickly.\u00a0 It does not need to be filled up like a diaper bag when you are headed out for the whole day.\u00a0 You will still be able, of course, to go to the spot in your home where you keep the majority of your baby&#8217;s items.<\/p>\n<h3>Baby Supply Box Maintenance<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s not enough to put the box together, of course.\u00a0 In order to actually enjoy the benefits of having a baby supply box (or multiple boxes, depending on your home&#8217;s layout and the logistics of your day), you&#8217;ll need to commit to regularly restocking your baby supply box.\u00a0 When your baby is younger, you will be restocking the box more often, but the frequency will decrease as the baby gets older.<\/p>\n<p>If you have older children, you can consider making it a chore for them to help you keep the baby supply box filled.\u00a0 For readers, a simple written checklist on the box&#8217;s top will be sufficient.\u00a0 For younger children, you can include a picture checklist in order to allow them to be successful in helping Mom take care of the baby.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are there any items that you would include in a baby supply box that aren&#8217;t listed above?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/author\/angie\/\">More posts from Angie<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a post from contributing writer Angie.
