{"id":18555,"date":"2011-08-27T18:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-08-27T22:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/?p=18555"},"modified":"2015-08-18T11:11:35","modified_gmt":"2015-08-18T15:11:35","slug":"three-easy-space-saving-solutions-in-a-small-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/three-easy-space-saving-solutions-in-a-small-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Easy Space Saving Solutions in a Small House"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2011\/08\/bedroom_after_6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18557 alignright\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2011\/08\/bedroom_after_6-201x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>While \u201csmall\u201d house is a relative term, we often feel like we are bursting at the seams of the room that we have in our house.\u00a0 It would not be truthful if I didn\u2019t share that we all not-so-secretly wish that we could live in a bigger house.\u00a0 However, for now, our house is what we can afford.\u00a0 (And, even with knowing <a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/house-staging-on-a-budget\/\">lots of house staging tips<\/a>, I\u2019m still intimated by the idea of trying to sell our house.)<\/p>\n<p>In order to best use the space that we have, we\u2019ve had to come up with some creative solutions for various areas of our house.\u00a0 (This is in addition, of course, to being careful to not have too much clutter and things we don&#8217;t need.)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I\u2019ll share just a few of the things that we\u2019ve done at our house, and I hope that you\u2019ll share some of the ways that you fully utilize space in your house!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h3>A Surprising Way to Gain More Space for Furniture<\/h3>\n<p>One solution that we found for helping us with furniture arranging was to take doors off that we felt we could live without.\u00a0 By taking a door off of the closet in our boys\u2019 room, we were able to fit a bed on a wall that wouldn\u2019t normally have fit, since you wouldn\u2019t have been able to open the closet door with the bed there.<\/p>\n<p>We also removed the door to a very small room that we had in our house that was just 35 square feet in area.\u00a0 If we had kept the door, it would have taken up much of the available space in the room.\u00a0 However, with the door gone, the whole 35 square feet is usable.\u00a0 (It became <a title=\"A Small Craft Room Makeover with an Even Smaller Budget\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manylittleblessings.com\/2011\/03\/a-small-craft-room-makeover-with-a-small-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\">my itty bitty craft room<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2011\/08\/space-saving-solutions.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30273\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2011\/08\/space-saving-solutions.jpg\" alt=\"Simple ways to get more space in a small place.
