My friend and I had the idea to clean them up, paint them and then use them decoratively in our houses. And since she is such a great friend, she did all the work! Here is the before picture.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"dsc04711.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/dsc04711.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/dsc04711.jpg\" alt=\"dsc04711.jpg\" width=\"438\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My friend cleaned up the panes and then they looked like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"wp.jpeg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp.jpeg\" alt=\"wp.jpeg\" width=\"471\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The she painted the areas that she wanted crackled with a base coat. This must be an acrylic paint. This is the color that will show through.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"wp1.jpeg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp1.jpeg\" alt=\"wp1.jpeg\" width=\"478\" height=\"359\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the base coat is dry, paint on the <a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michaels.com\/art\/online\/displayProductPage?productNum=cp0069\" target=\"_blank\">crackle paint<\/a>, only on the spots you painted with the base coat.<\/p>\n<p>Then paint the whole thing another color with <a target = \"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.michaels.com\/art\/online\/displayProductPage?productNum=cp0294\" target=\"_blank\">acrylic paint<\/a>. She chose black.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"wp3.jpeg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp3.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/wp3.jpeg\" alt=\"wp3.jpeg\" width=\"491\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When painting this coat make sure you have plenty of paint on your brush, because you can only go over the crackled areas once.
