I discovered that the binder system works best for organizing important files and documents in my home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2015\/01\/organizing-with-binders.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29571\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2015\/01\/organizing-with-binders.jpg\" alt=\"organizing with binders\" width=\"578\" height=\"826\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2015\/01\/organizing-with-binders.jpg 700w, https:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/home-management\/files\/2015\/01\/organizing-with-binders-210x300.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 578px) 100vw, 578px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I like binders for several reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Portable:<\/strong> If you have ever moved file folders and the movers don&#8217;t pack them correctly (meaning right side up) you have a big mess when you unpack them at your next location.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexible:<\/strong> I have stored binders on shelves, in cabinets, and in drawers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cheap: <\/strong>Binders are a dime a dozen at yard sales, and even if you buy them new they aren&#8217;t very expensive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Easy to use:<\/strong> For me, binders make it easy to file and keep track of papers. I have a <em>To Do<\/em> folder that is kept in a convenient place for immediate filing.\u00a0 Once a week (or sometimes once a month) I take the papers out of the folder and organize them in the binders.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/IMG_3042.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10971\" title=\"Binder organization\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/IMG_3042-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"binder organization\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I use the page protectors to hold documents are more important and can&#8217;t have holes. I use the pencil bags to store small items like envelopes, used checkbooks, store cards, and receipts.<\/p>\n<p>I printed labels on white paper for the spine of each binder, so I can easily see which one I need. I have binders for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Investments<\/li>\n<li>Banking<\/li>\n<li>Insurance<\/li>\n<li>Homeschool Records<\/li>\n<li>Medical Records<\/li>\n<li>Car Records<\/li>\n<li>Household Records<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/IMG_3040.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10974\" title=\"binder organization\" src=\"\/\/thehappyhousewife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/IMG_3040.jpg\" alt=\"binder organization\" width=\"534\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>About every six months I go through my binder and shred unneeded documents.<\/p>\n<p>I love my binder system. For me it is so much easier than digging through file folders to find paperwork.
